So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.
I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.
How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?
When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?
Did you buy yours new? Im Gna try to find a site that sells em for cheaper if I can.
I have been able to find most of my books used in good condition for cheap.
Shop for Used Textbooks, New Textbooks, Rental Textbooks & eBooks: Direct Textbook This website is pretty good at showing the websites that sell textbooks at the lowest price.
Side note* I have noticed that prices change all the time. When I started looking at books for example the fundamentals book it was 50+ used and a few weeks later I was able to get it for 20$ used in Amazon.

Since most people are getting ready to graduate, they will probably be parting with the fundamental and med surg books easily. So keep a look out on Amazon. Sign up for prime (free your first year for students) it's free 2 day shipping. Check on eBay and even Barnes and nobles. Compare prices, used, and choose that way. Craigslist is anther place, but we all know how that goes sometimes. :)
Morning everyone! Thursday I got the email saying I was placed in PVCC traditional for Spring 2016(time stamp was from February 2015). My original plan was to do CEP through NAU and defer any placement for RN, but after discussion with my husband and my mother in law(who already got her RN through GCC and her BSN years ago) I decided I would take the placement. After the 2nd block I'm going to start working on my BSN through the Mid-AAS track through NAU. Any one else starting block 1 at pvcc? I just accepted Friday so I haven't received much info yet, except my orientation is Jan. 11 and when semester starts, is there any other meeting or something we're supposed to attend?
I already have all my health and safety stuff up to date because i was going to take the CNA program before the nursing program to get more exposure(I'm a CPht so I have experience with meds..just not the patients that get the meds).. however since I placed, plans have changed and I'm going straight to RN program.
If you have a negative titer, but have proof you have received the full vaccine dosages you will not have to retake them. This is what I understood. I took the CNA course with PC and I had 2 dosages for hep b which you need 3. I had a negative titer, I only got 1 more and that was the completion of the series. I don't believe you need to retake all of the series because you have proof. Especially the hep b series, some people go through 2 rounds of vaccine series and they still show negative on a titer. Hopefully you are able to speak with someone in advising because it might be different.

Agree to a portion of this.
If you do have the records of all 3 and within the time schedule required for hep b than you will be good. However, you can't just go and get 2 and then years later get the third to say you got all three. You have no immunity then. Not the amount they test for in titers anyway.
Just from working in a vaccination clinic and seeing many nursing students come in bc they didn't have them or have the correct schedule,
But yes again I agree ask the admin and see when you register. But check sooner than later. good luck.
Another question, block 1 at PVCC 2016 the required book is $1100? Is this a bundle of books or is this a massive book covering more material?
I'm not with pvcc but I was told it covers all 4 blocks.
Mrsbookworm has been helpful with encouraging purchase used. But it's all specific to each program.

Hey! I did not even try because it was Friday around 3 when I had time. So they would usually be gone or not able to answer anyway. But I'm thinking well get it when the deadline for registration ends, the 25th? I think. Or when all the seats have their letters in.. But I bet by the end of the month well have it.
I saw those books.. I need to get one more I think.. May need to recheck and make sure nothing hasn't changed.
