Published

Hello everyone! Just wondering how many of you are applying to the CEP program this coming December 2020?  I couldn't find a post for the upcoming Maricopa CEP application period so I figured I'd start a post to see who will be applying and if you would like to share your score and schools of choice.

I will be applying to Grand Canyon University with:

First choice: Glendale Community College (weekend cohort)

Second Choice: Estrella Mountain Community College

HESI A2 scores:

Englist - 95.33%

Math - 98%

GPA: 3.84

No prior degree

Overall points: 86.47

Same! Getting so anxious now...  I know they stated that letters will not be out until Feb 22, but I saw from previous application period(Dec 2019) that some letters went out on the 21st even though they're suppose to start going out Feb 24th.  ? So now I have been anxiously checking LOL

Oh wow! I wonder if there is as many applicants this time around. It seems like this group is more quiet than previous posts about application periods on this forum.

I’m getting anxious. Hoping everyone gets in! ??

Yay! I’m glad to see that I’m not the only mom in this group. I felt similar with my job. Do you have any tips you’ve heard on how to do the program as a mom? I’ve heard how difficult it is and I’m trying to pick up any tips on how to balance it all if I get accepted.

I know! Sometimes reading some of the posts from pre-nursing students waiting to get accepted makes me feel old since I feel like they are much younger than me (I'm 31!!).

I'm actually going to remain full-time as well while working, but I work remote so that's super easy for me to maintain. I don't have any solid tips since I haven't been accepted, but I worked towards my MBA as a working mom and that was fine! Just time management and making sure I had a support system (someone watching my son and such!) ?

Good luck to everyone!

I’m getting super nervous/anxious too!! Does anybody remember how many seats there are per school? I know I was told but I can’t remember now.

OnI submitted mine to GCC on Jan 7th and haven’t heard from them either.  I’m just assuming that there’s a higher volume of applicants now plus the start of semester too

Only 24 spots for cep

Hi All!
I finally gave in and decided to make an account in this final week. Like others I was doing fine with the wait till this week. I was wondering if any of you are career changers or moms? I’m in a unique situation as I have a masters degree and I recently left my previous career as a teacher. I also have an almost 2 year old daughter. Just hoping to connect with anyone that might be in a similar situation. ☺️

I applied to ASU

First choice: Estelle Mountain

Second Choice: Glendale

 Overall points: 86.83

Good luck to everyone!

Hi! I’m a mom of 2!
I did ASU with PVCC as my first choice and GCC as my second ?

For which community college is that?  I noticed you might have accidentally quoted me by accident so I don't want people to get false information.  I do not have any information on how many seats are available for CEP.

Father of 2 junior high schoolers, on my 2nd career path, 1st college experience. My family has been supportive with lots of communication about how busy I will be the next couple of years! I can't imagine doing this with younger kids. Bravo.

This us the info I was given.

I’m a mom of a 2 year old daughter with baby number 2 on the way. I’ve been super anxious this past week and wondering how I’d cope if I get accepted. I don’t really have a good support system, my husband’s job keeps him at the lab till late at night and I don’t have a family here in Arizona. Also changing career, I have a bachelors degree and used to be a teacher.

Hello!

I actually have been doing the same thing, and just waiting to make one of these. I am also a career changer as well, and was extremely nervous about the upcoming results. I have similar points (86.7) because of a previous bachelors degree. I actually received a call from the GCU advisor that overlooks the cep from the maricopa community colleges and he stated that I have a very solid chance of getting in, so I’m guessing you definitely do too. He said that the universities aren’t competitive, it’s actually the individual community colleges. And for Estrella Mountain both our scores are in the top 5, so that’s a breath of fresh air. But now I’m just scared about juggling a part time job with the hectic work load.

Truly understand how you feel!  I have a baby coming few weeks from now!  First time mom so also really anxious.  On my original post that I can’t edit anymore... I originally said I  applied to GCC weekend but I actually ended up picking all 3 cohorts.

I’ve read so many post on Maricopa Nursing facebook about how they were able to handle the program with kiddos!  I am sure it’ll be hard at first but I know you’ll do great once you figure out the schedule that will work best for you! I don’t have family here in AZ either and hubby works mon-fri.  Luckily my mother agreed to fly here during fall/Spring semester to help while I’m in school otherwise I would’ve picked only GCC weekend and hope to get in!
