Published

Hello everyone! Just wondering how many of you are applying to the CEP program this coming December 2020?  I couldn't find a post for the upcoming Maricopa CEP application period so I figured I'd start a post to see who will be applying and if you would like to share your score and schools of choice.

I will be applying to Grand Canyon University with:

First choice: Glendale Community College (weekend cohort)

Second Choice: Estrella Mountain Community College

HESI A2 scores:

Englist - 95.33%

Math - 98%

GPA: 3.84

No prior degree

Overall points: 86.47

Hi All!
I finally gave in and decided to make an account in this final week. Like others I was doing fine with the wait till this week. I was wondering if any of you are career changers or moms? I’m in a unique situation as I have a masters degree and I recently left my previous career as a teacher. I also have an almost 2 year old daughter. Just hoping to connect with anyone that might be in a similar situation. ☺️

I applied to ASU

First choice: Estelle Mountain

Second Choice: Glendale

 Overall points: 86.83

Good luck to everyone!

Not a career changer but I am a mom! I have a 3 and 5 year old. Was originally going to apply at EMCC but applied only for GCC weekends because that was the only schedule that seemed like it would be possible for us. I have a pretty good score but only having one choice (which also seems to be a popular one because it's the weekends) on the application is making me so nervous!!

I also have my Masters in Education. So I am changing careers. I applied for GCC Weekend and GCU (since that is where I got my Masters) I am still planning on working full time too. I feel like I should have applied to Gateway Evenings though.

Father of 2 junior high schoolers, on my 2nd career path, 1st college experience. My family has been supportive with lots of communication about how busy I will be the next couple of years! I can't imagine doing this with younger kids. Bravo.

Yes! We’ve been talking a lot about communication and being on the same page with stuff. I think that’s so crucial.

Wow! I was so torn on whether not to continue teaching but chose not to. I think trying to balance all the responsibilities as a teacher, wife, mother, and nursing student would have been too much. I think we have some great transferable skills going from education to nursing though.

So cool to see so many parents responding as it makes feel less isolated on this journey. I was so torn between EMCC and GCC but chose EMCC because it is closer to my parents who will be helping with my daughter. Good luck to you. ?

I’m a mom of a 2 year old daughter with baby number 2 on the way. I’ve been super anxious this past week and wondering how I’d cope if I get accepted. I don’t really have a good support system, my husband’s job keeps him at the lab till late at night and I don’t have a family here in Arizona. Also changing career, I have a bachelors degree and used to be a teacher.

It is so hard to balance all the responsibilities and I can relate to the anxiety feeling. I keep reminding myself of why I left teaching to pursue this and how it’ll be a great example for my daughter. I feel like the anxious feelings can steal the joy of the process that everyone worked so hard to get to this point. Good luck to you.

Hello!

I actually have been doing the same thing, and just waiting to make one of these. I am also a career changer as well, and was extremely nervous about the upcoming results. I have similar points (86.7) because of a previous bachelors degree. I actually received a call from the GCU advisor that overlooks the cep from the maricopa community colleges and he stated that I have a very solid chance of getting in, so I’m guessing you definitely do too. He said that the universities aren’t competitive, it’s actually the individual community colleges. And for Estrella Mountain both our scores are in the top 5, so that’s a breath of fresh air. But now I’m just scared about juggling a part time job with the hectic work load.

Yes, I remember hearing that the universities aren’t the competitive ones. So cool that you chose EMCC too. It was hard to pick between EMCC and GCC for me.

Hey everyone! I applied on January 28, 2021. Yes, I know I was pushing close toward the deadline which is Feb. 1st, but I was SO nervous to take my HESI so I waited until late January to take it. I was surprised after I took it because I did a DECENT job on it, 96% Math and 85.33% English (I rushed the grammar (76%) portion bc I was running out of time on the HESI) which landed me a 88% Cumulative Score. I’m definitely not mad at it since it was my first try but I know I could do better. I am a TAD discouraged after totaling my score for my application.

GPA 3.59 x 10 = 3.59 (All A’s & B’s in required courses)

96% Math x .15 = 14.4

85.33% English x .35 = 29.9

Total Points = 80.2

No prior degree

After reading the comments I’m lowkey scared I won’t get in the program! My first choice is Phoenix College, Estrella is my second, and PVCC is my third. ASU is my university choice. Does anyone know the lowest PC accepts? Not too many people have said they’ve applied to PC on this feed so I’m kinda in the dark about what they expect ?

This is it guys! The time we have been waiting for :)))))) Soooo anxious!! ? GL everyone ?

Hey all! ?? Thought I would jump on here before we find out the results!
I applied to CGCC, GWCC, and PC with GCU as my university. I’ll be doing the MSN program as I already have a bachelors degree. My total points are 84.4! I’m so nervous! I feel like I’ve been trying for forever to get into a nursing school.  Good luck everybody!

Soooo nervous! Counting down the days ? whatever happens.. don’t give up everyone!

Specializes in PCT in PICU.

Fun question for you all while we wait.. Who is the first person you're going to tell?!

I was so excited to work this weekend thinking it would fly by. I was soo wrong. This weekend has dragged! And from reading other threads it doesn't sound like many emails go out on Mondays.. Seems like the majority go out Tuesday or Wednesday. My first choice is PVCC and it seems like they're one of the schools that sends theirs out later in the week. But I'm sure I'll be refreshing this page and my email like crazy starting tomorrow! Good luck to you all! We've worked so hard to get to this point!
