Maricopa CEP Fall 2021 (Applicants for December 1, 2020- February 1, 2021)

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello everyone! Just wondering how many of you are applying to the CEP program this coming December 2020?  I couldn't find a post for the upcoming Maricopa CEP application period so I figured I'd start a post to see who will be applying and if you would like to share your score and schools of choice.

I will be applying to Grand Canyon University with:

First choice: Glendale Community College (weekend cohort)

Second Choice: Estrella Mountain Community College

HESI A2 scores:

Englist - 95.33%

Math - 98%

GPA: 3.84

No prior degree

Overall points: 86.47

I received an Associates in Arts (AGEC-A) and was awarded 2.5 towards CEP. Got into my first choice.

Hi Metzgerl1223,

I spoke about this with an advisor not too long ago. I was told the AGEC-A does not count on the rubric, but the Associates in Arts does. So once you complete all the requirements for the AGEC-A, you will apply for the AA degree and that will give you the 2.5 points when you get it.

Hope this helps ?

What's the difference? My advisor signed off on my check list and it reads
Associates in Arts (AA) Degree with AGEC-A. I'm confused ? Also, Thank you for responding!

That's awesome!! congratulations!! Thanks you for responding ?

I just know that the AGEC-A are just the general education requirements for an Associates in Arts. So to get your AA degree, you need to get your AGEC-A too (it’s a component of the AA degree). Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think for the AGEC-A only needs like 35 credits minimum but the AA requires 60? Either way, your advisor signed it off as an Associates in Arts + AGEC-A so it should count in the rubric! :))

Just make sure you apply for graduation right before you finish your last class for AA to be awarded the degree! It takes a week or so to post on your transcript. It must be posted on your transcript to get awarded points!

I've had around 80 credits for the past two years and I just never applied for a degree because I was told they cut financial aid if you do. Neways I did apply over the Summer! since May actually! still waiting on it ?

Berna, if you don't mind me asking. How may points did you apply with?

An AGEC is not an associate degree. An associate degree requires more credits than an AGEC. If you have all the credits for an associate degree you need to apply for it and be issued the degree in order for it to count towards your points.

Thank you for clearing that up for me!
