Maricopa CEP Fall 2021 (Applicants for December 1, 2020- February 1, 2021)

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello everyone! Just wondering how many of you are applying to the CEP program this coming December 2020?  I couldn't find a post for the upcoming Maricopa CEP application period so I figured I'd start a post to see who will be applying and if you would like to share your score and schools of choice.

I will be applying to Grand Canyon University with:

First choice: Glendale Community College (weekend cohort)

Second Choice: Estrella Mountain Community College

HESI A2 scores:

Englist - 95.33%

Math - 98%

GPA: 3.84

No prior degree

Overall points: 86.47

Hey guys! This website is awesome. Feeling a little discouraged and looking to talk to people in the same boat as I am. I just submitted my application for the 2021 CEP NAU program. 1st choice: Chandler-Gilbert 2nd: Mesa 3rd: Scottsdale.

I do not have a previous associates degree, and the AGEC-A doesn't count unfortunately. I go an overall 96 on my HESI.  Math was 96 and English Composite was 96. Still unsure of my GPA but it is somewhere between 3.2-3.5, I've calculated it a bunch of times, but transcript vs. NAU shows differently. I have at least 80 points, 83 max. I am so nervous! I've seen people post on here saying they know people who got in with a 78, and others that said high 80's are necessary. Anyone that can comment on this, I'd be so grateful; my anxiety is through the roof.

Also, I just hung up with my advisor and she had said that the lowest they take at Chandler-Gilbert is 83.7 usually, highest 96! That's why I am so discouraged =[ I am on the low end of the cusp. She said something about "if I don't get in, I can reapply for the next round", which is why I'm feeling down. Does anyone have similar scores or know anyone who got accepted with scores like mine? Clearly, I need some reassurance LOL. Thanks everyone!

Hey!

I feel you on the anxiety!! I try to keep myself from thinking about it because I know we have so long until we find out LOL. But I think you have a good chance of getting in at at least one of your three choices. I have read the threads on here from previous application cycles and from what I've read, people have gotten accepted with scores similar to yours. It's weird that your advisor said the lowest they take is 83.7 because I've heard of people getting in there with an 82. Maybe more people are applying this cycle. Either way, I think you have a good chance of getting accepted to at least one of your choices.

Thank you for responding!! You def. made me feel a bit better. Good luck to you!!

Hello! I applied for the CEP program on Dec.2

First choice: MCC

Second choice: Scottsdale Community College

University of choice: ASU

GPA: 3.54

HESI Eng: 86

HESI Math: 100

Score: 80.5

I was initially discouraged because before classes went online due to COVID, I had a 4.0 GPA, in that same semester I was taking 5 courses at MCC in the Spring, all of them being prereqs, and 2 of them were Microbio and Anatomy in the same sem. It wasn't too bad because I had gotten into the flow of things but midway into the semester everything went online and my anatomy class in particular did not make the ideal transition and I ended up going from 2% away from an A to ending that class with a low C. Even worse because over the Summer I took two courses which were slightly accelerated, chem and anatomy and physiology 2 (didn't learn my lesson from having two sciences in one sem) and completely burned myself out, I may reconsider retaking my anatomy 1 class to bump my GPA a little if my score ends up too low to land a seat. I hope the best of luck to you all!

I am going to try to apply to the CEP program on the next cycle and I just want some opinions. I have an 88% English and 82% math HESI score. Looking at everyone else's scores I don't know if it's worth retaking.

Definitely worth retaking if you are applying for CEP.  I mean it all depends on your GPA and extra points(if you have previous associate/bachelor).  If you are confident with your total score, you can keep it but you do have plenty of rooms to raise your HESI score up to get a better rubric points.

I got 84 in English and 96% in math the first time I took HESI.  If I kept that points, I would’ve gotten a rubric points of around 81%.  I retook it and got 95 English and 98 in math and it literally raised my score up by 5%.  It really all depends on where your total points currently stand!

Hi! I wanted to ask what you meant by this? I am graduating in May 2021 with my AA with AGEC-A. Will that not count as points for the CEP?

Specializes in Telemetry, Observation & Med/surg.

GPA: 3.73
Eng: 95.33%
Math: 86%

Total CEP points: 83.57

Applied for ASU thru PVCC, with GCC/SCC as alternatives. Last years' scores looked low enough to get in down to 82, some as far as 80, depending on school (other Allnurses thread), but not sure about PVCC (weren't many posts from PVCC students). Hoping for the best, sure don't want to take any classes or tests over again.

Hello, I’m glad to find this thread. I submitted my application on Dec 19.

University - GCU

MCC, CGCC and Scottsdale

English HESI- 95.33

Maths HESI- 86

GPA- 4

Prior degree- 5

Score- 91.27

I have a bachelors, though from another country and not really sure if it’s going to be considered. But if it isn’t considered I’ll be at 86.27

I’m doing PV and ASU too with similar points! My advisor said the lowest they let in last time was 79! So I think we have a good chance!
