maricopa block 1 books

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi everyone so I got placed in scottsdale for spring 2016, Im wondering any block 2 or 3 or even graduates that can tell me if I should buy every single book they have on the list? its like 10 books and honestly I just feel its too many of them and that ill be waisting money by buying them, its almost $1,000 for all 10, and I don't mind spending the money if I will be using them, my options are to rent them but I will like to buy the ones I will be using more than one semester.

Any feed back will help thank you!!

This is the list:

Fundamentals of nursing volume 1 & 2

Davis drug guide

Taker's cyclopedic medical dictionary

Essentials of psychiatric mental health nursing

Nursing diagnosis handbook: a evidence based guide to planning care

Calculate with confidence

Medical surgical nursing assessment and management of clinical problems

Pharmacology for nurses: a pathophysiological approach

Pearson handbook of laboratory and diagnostic testing with nursing implications

Manual of nursing practice

If you shop around you should be able to get them for less than that and some of them you may be able to get an older edition which is even cheaper.

Thanks I am shopping around but it is still about $600, I'm just wondering which ones are better to buy and which ones I should just rent for the semester :)

I believe they are all used over the four blocks. But I totally get it :) I could be wrong I don't start till spring and am placed at GCC you have a few more books than I need.

Specializes in Renal, Diabetic.

I'm also in SCC Block One! Where did you get the book list from?

Specializes in Neuro, Telemetry.

Check craigslist and eBay. Final block students often sell the book packages for really cheap right around now.

You won't know which of the books you like best until you start. There will be assigned reading or careplan stuff used from pretty much all of them throughout the program. But you will find that there are at least one or two that you just don't touch because the I go is explained the way you like in a different required text.

when we had the meeting to turn in all the immunization records ---------------- handed out a couple of papers and she gave this little packet with schedule, uniform information, a map and the list is in that packet :)

So would you recommend just buying them all then?

OK cool. I got placed after the meeting, so I had to call her to schedule a registration appointment with her. She said they aren't doing registration yet for late placements until right before Christmas, but I'm glad I'll get the information then.
