March 2008 NCLEX support group

Published

A thread for all those in March who are planning to take the NCLEX offering both support and any hints or tips that help

Good luck to all :D

My waiting is finally over!

Just found out today that I passed the NCLEX-RN! I stopped at 145 q's. 2 SATA, 1 computation, Lots of Prioritization, Infection Control, Delegation and Pharma. I was upset when I finished the test. I am pretty sure I missed some easy questions. I was hopeless...But God didn't let me down. All my prayers are answered.

I studied using Suzanne's Plan. Kaplan Q-trainers, Asked IampattyRN and Macgyver16 for some notes. ATI also helps. Thanks to this site and to this thread.I silently read post in this thread and I am getting familiar with everybody.

Good luck to the next NCLEX test takers.

hi guys,i am a Registered General Nurse{R.G.N} in the UK, i am planning to do my ENCLEX sometime end of this year or probably early next year.

which is the best book to read, do u recommend kaplan as the best for enclex prep???

My 2 cents: From my perspective,

Content - Saunders

Quick brushup & refreshing ur knowledge - ATI book

If u just want to do questions and answers using book and not use computer - NCLEX made incredibly easy (the question booko) - I don't exactly know what the proper name of the book is. If u have no problem staring at the computer screen for hours and hours, Saunders has a CD with questions.

Welcome to the group.

thanks for the reply, i am very grateful

Worrier, Congratulations!!! i wonder when i will be in your shoes!

I used the saunders comprehensive blue book for the pharm, and Hurst review for everything else

Hello and CONGRATS :yeah: RN next to your name

I searched for this book and before I purchase the one I found could you let me know the ISBN for the book you used? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the site

Saunders is a great book and would also recommend you think about Suzanne's plan as that was initially aimed at helping foreign nurses pass the NCLEX as fail rate is very high among foreign trained nurses. I should also suggest checking out the International forum as depending on your training you may find you are short in hours as US training is general where as UK is specialized. Also be aware of retrogression with no idea how long it is going to take you to get to the US.

Good luck

Well guys, I'm done with NCLEX. Got 83 questions. Not really sure what to think about that:o. Freaked out for about 30 seconds when the screen didnt shut off after 75, but I quickly recouped. Felt myself freaking out again at question 83 and decided I would take a break after I answered the question. Stupid computer shut off after I answered. Lord willing, I passed.

Way to go! :yeah:

Any prior EMT's,(that are now LPN's or RN's) ,out their with some pointers on approaching the NCLEX-PN. I have the NCLEX-PN exam coming up at the end of the month and I have been studying everything i can get my hands on for the past six months. Saunder's Review, Pharmacology review, Fundamentals review... What areas should I not focus on so much? Thanks

i'm amazed as to how ppl pass the nclex w/ out reading & just doing practice questions. honestly, how in the world is it possible to not know the content & pass? i knoe many ppl believe that since the nclex is so out there, it's pointless to study content & the focus is just on knowing how to take the exam. i've been given the advice of not studying & just doing practice questions & reading the rationales so many times that at this point, they make me feel like i'm wasting my time reading the content! *sigh* :o

just doing questions gets you the content...indirectly. chewing on the rationales and connecting the dots gets you to the content....it's a different way to study, and if it turned out I didn't make it, that's exactly what I'm going to do...it wasn't about the details as much as the thought process, and that's what dissecting the rationales will get you. the content was not super detail-oriented on my test.

i will be taking my exam next week. march 19. haha. plz do pray for me. well, as of now, i dont read books anymore. i take my practice test every 9am 100 questions a day and go for rationales. in the afternoon i do again 50- 100 questions. well i just pray that i will pass my exam=)
