Hi wishiwereanurse,
Normal values vary from lab to lab but typically range as follows:
TEST For drainage
Method 1
Check a dextrostick or testape for presence of glucose
then do method 2... i.e blood also can test +ve for glucose..
Method2
1-Collect droplets of drainage on a white absorbent pad
2-observe the area after a few minutes for the halo sign
3-note if a yellow ring circles a central ring that is red, red is blood, yellow is CSF
/concentric rings on the pad also suggest/clear colorless fluid...:typing
