Hi folks
you may find that you need to have a mantoux test for your facility done before you leave for the usa, if you are based in the midlands you can have it done in birmingham, i think the cost is about £50
If anyone wants the number feel free to pm me
my agency gave me the number of a 'middle man' who charged me £15 just for giving me the number, so i think its only fair that i share it with you all to save a few quid
cheers
Don't murder him, husbands are useful, sometimes.Having said that, if I did murder mine, I could finish an old university degree at no charge. Got to love the Canadian penal system.
I have PMT today (pre mensrual Tension) I forget what it is here I know it is supposed to be a myth but of course I still get it monthly-thats my excuse for violence and I am sticking by it
there is a website
http://www.thenotariessociety.org.uk
thats where i got mine from, you just put in your town or postcode and the site tells you where the nearest one is
notaries in the uk have to belong to this society to practice so policemen cant do it as far as i know, which is a shame as im sure it would have been cheaper
by the way just got back from having mantoux injection, jeeze it hurts!
it hardly cost me anything to get all that stuff done.
i didnt need fingerprints for my original licence, but since have paid 3 states to get them done.
[color=#2f4f4f]didnt need anything notarised before we left either.
my gp took all my bloods for titres and routine work and filled in all my forms for nothing. any boosters that i neede he didnt charge us either. occupational health at my hospital did the rest including getting a mantoux done. got an x-ray done as well but the embassy mediacal insist on doing it as they said they didnt know if it was my chest !!!!
[color=#2f4f4f]as for my bcg i had it done at birth as my aunt had tb, and many moons later i still have positive results. its mandatory over here that its a yearly thing, and some places have a 2-step test, in other words once a year is not enough for them.
Back to this Montoux test please. I have a natural immunity - have a certificate from my Occupational health to prove it! Now where will that leave me?? I think my immunity came from having been born in Sri Lanka & living my early life on the Indian sub-continent.
My kids have all had BCG because we live in London & it's done when they are babies due to them living in a high risk area. Will they have problems too?
Another kinda related question - anyone know where I can get the 2 younger ones vaccinated against chicken pox here in the UK?

WE've had USA stuff notarised by our solicitor cheaper than a real notary.
the clinic i had my mantoux at did the chicken pox vaccinewhy do you need it doing?
WEll first because I think they will need it before they're allowed to go to school but mainly because I really can't afford what could potentially be 4 weeks (2 kids one getting it after the other scenario) off work when I want my CV to look great for a future US employer :)

Yes shop around because the first quote I got was 150 pounds, but eventually got it done for 25 pounds so felt like a bargain. We had to travel into the countryside near Southampton, so we paid lots in petrol
