Malcolm X - Nursing - Fall 2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Anyone applying to the City Colleges of Chicago Fall 2022 RN or PN programs? Thought I'd start a thread. Just curious on people's thoughts on applying to both RN/PN programs? Has anyone ever heard of someone getting accepted into both RN and PN and they being able to choose between the two? Is it even possible to be accepted into both?

Just hopping on to join the conversation. I’m finishing up my last 2 vaccines in a few weeks (my MMR and Hep B came back negative) and that’s my last requirement for the RN application!

I don’t have the pre-reqs for the PN program/am not interested in being an LPN (pays about the same as my current job) so I can’t answer that for you, unfortunately! Interested to hear what others may say.

Hi Aurelia, I'm finishing up my last requirement for the application. I only need the CPR class because mine expired last year. I'll be taking the class Thursday? How did you do on the TEAS test if you don't mind me asking? I got 75.3% composite and 80.9% reading. I feel my scores are kinda low which is why I'm contemplating applying for both programs, although I definitely prefer the RN program.

I got an 86.7 cumulative and a 91 on reading. From what I’ve read here and heard from info sessions it sounds like as long as you hit the minimum scores you have a shot - it doesn’t seem like they go through and pick people with the highest scores. I think it’s just a lottery or a matter of who applies first.

Great scores. I finally got all my documents uploaded and complete on castlebranch. Any idea if we are supposed to let city colleges know we've uploaded all necessary documents or does castlebranch notify them? I emailed the nursing dept and they didn't give  me a clear answer and it still shows as incomplete on the ccc site.

I just submitted all my documents today! Now I'm just waiting for my statuses to change to "complete." Anyone else anxious to hear back?

That's awesome. Castlebranch is pretty quick at marking documents as complete. My documents been have been marked as complete on the Castlebranch site for a couple weeks now but on the ccc website it still shows medical documents as incomplete. I'm very anxious as well. I've been checking ccc website every day??

Same. I asked my advisor when they're going to update the "Admissions Cumulative GPA" and he said they're working on it. I'll still be bugging them though bc I know they can be slow LOL. Did you see that e-mail that said they added more seats? It makes me wonder if they're expanding the program or if that means more competition.

I didn't get that email. Good to know though. My GPA was just marked as complete a week or two ago. My application status changed from applied to in progress last week. I've still called several times about the medical documents and still haven't gotten a clear answer.  Hopefully the "in progress" is a good sign.

I wasn’t sure if the email about more seats meant for the TEAS or for the program. But I do think they only sent it to people who didn’t have all of their requirements done. I’m feeling super anxious too, because I had to get a few repeat vaccines my repeat titers won’t be done until after the deadline.
Hopefully just a few more weeks to hear a decision! I know last Spring they sent out acceptances really early.

I think you should be good then!

Oh right! It could've meant that too. Now that I re-read that email it's very vague.
