Malcolm X Nursing Spring 2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Guys!

Just wanted to start this thread since I have yet to see one for the upcoming Spring program. Is any one here applying for Malcolm X ADN Spring 2022?

Hi! I will be applying to the Spring sem ADN program. I took Bio 226 in the Summer and will be taking Bio 227, Microbiology in the fall! So will be starting off with Fundamentals in the Spring (if I get accepted). I finished my 4 prerequisites during Spring 2021 and have my CNA certification. So the only thing left is the ATI TEAS which we’re supposed to take after we apply, if I remember correctly.

That's awesome! Who are you taking Bio 227, and Micro with?
I took Bio 226 last Spring and Bio 227 over the Summer. I am taking Micro in the fall. Might have to take a math class as well since my math class transferred as Math 14o and they say that it is top high of a math class.

Did you start studying for your TEAS yet?

I'm taking Bio 227 with Sheila Wicks and Micro with Matthew Greif. Which math class are you taking? Math 118 is the only required prerequisite, right?

Not really! I've briefly gone through the Mometrix book. My cousin took the TEAS last month for her Accelerated BSN program and I'm waiting for her to send me the ATI TEAS book!

Oh okay. I took those classes with Ramon Castro. Yup that’s the math class I have to take. They told me last minute that the prior math classes I have taken are “too high” for the nursing program. Otherwise I would’ve taken it over the Summer.

Nice! Your cousin can give you some tips on the exam. I started studying this week. So much information.

I had a quick question! So I'm applying to the Spring 2022 cohort and I just started my application when it opened on the 30th of August. For the TEAS, can I just go ahead and register as long as it's taken at/through Malcolm X? There's an availability to take it in person in October and I want to register before spots get filled up.

Hi Nitya,

Yes, you can go ahead and register for the TEAS.

I'm assuming you got the documentation package what was sent once you applied. I have a question not sure if you know the answer. But for the medical documents regarding the immunization do we have to get blood work done to prove we have the vaccines they require?

Quick question! I’m a little confused about the background check part, what are we supposed to do exactly?

Just wanted to post a quick update here and see how everyone else who's applying has been doing.

I've finished my application. Took the TEAS the past Friday and got 89.6% reading, 86.7% cumulative.

Minimum requirements are 73% reading, 65% cumulative so I'm not sure if it's a competitive score or not. I have a 4.0 GPA so far and am currently finishing up Microbio and Bio 227. Took Bio 226 over the Summer.

All med documents are uploaded (except the drug test because it was told that has to be done after getting accepted). Background check is done. GED transcripts were mailed to the Registrar office but none of these have been marked as complete yet so I'm just waiting now. All my grades from college are from CCC so they were already in the system.

If I get accepted, I'll be starting with Fundamentals of Nursing (Nursing 101).

Now it's just a waiting game and I am nervoussss. I've heard that they take less students in the Spring compared to the Fall cohort.

Hey there, I'm applying for Spring also, I think you're all set with that GPA and TEAS score. I have a 2.9 and I take my TEAS next week and I'm so nervous, and yes they do take less students in the Spring, they actually released the class schedules for next semester today.

You got this, good luck!!

Yes, I saw the schedule and class options today. They still have the professors as TBA.
