Luzerne County Community College, Pennsylvania

Hi!

I am looking for anyone who is attending/has graduated from LCCC's nursing program. Can you please share your acceptance details (when you got your letter, g.p.a., pax scores)? The school is so vague with their admissions details and rumors are constantly flying.

At the other end of the spectrum, if you have been denied admission to the program when did you get your letter, did they give a reason for denial?

Thank you to anyone who can help :) :)

I think its pretty safe to say that unless your GPA is at least 3.5/3.6 or higher you need to have ALL your pre reqs complete at the they review your application. Having all A's at 5 points each (which at 10 classes gives you 50 points) vs having all B's (only 30 points) makes a HUGE difference. Which conversely means that if you have anything below a 3.2 you probably have not shot at getting in regardless of how many classes you complete.

So in order for me to have been accepted with my current GPA I would have needed at least 8 classes to have been completed, and I only had about 5, but 1 was only a 1 credit course. I wish they had 2 nursing sessions per year. If they had one for Spring of 2016 Im sure I could get in for that. But alas.... Fall 2016 here we come

I am still holding onto hope that you are in because you don't have a denial. You could have enough points to be in the small waiting pool for hose who don't make their deposits by the 3rd.

Hi everyone! My son is still anxiously awaiting a response from Luzerne for the Kulpmont nursing program. His status still has applied and no mail yet! He called Luzerne a few days ago and they said all letters would be out by the end of the week and they couldn't give any more information over the phone. Does anyone know if they would give you the status of your application if you go directly to the school? I read that acceptance deposits have to be in by the 3rd? Thanks for any input you can share.

I still have "Applied" listed in webadvisor. I only got a 89 on the PAX, my first time taking it. I am in my second semester. I have 5 classes done already. I thought I would have already gotten a "denied" especially because I didn't get a 100 on the PAX.

I think they do things in waves. They sent out the first wave of acceptances in about a space of only two days. I suspect that they are waiting to see who doesn't place their deposit to send out a small amount of other acceptances.

I hope I don't sound callous but I also wonder why. They won't even consider anyone without a 100.

Your fine. Ummm I'm not exactly sure. Maybe they didn't get to my web advisor yet to change the status. I'm wondering if they change them all at once or only so many a day.

I am pretty sure that if you go to the admissions office they will let you know. If its a "no" then you can make an appointment with the nursing guy and he will go over the application with you and what you need to do to try to get in next year.

I have been hearing about Kulpmont admissions since the middle of the month so maybe he is one of the few whose acceptance is dependent upon someone else not accepting their offer.

Everyone that I have talked to have so far has either been accepted or denied. Also the ones that were deined already received their letter too. I'm not expecting to get in based upon my PAX score though.

Did you sign up to retake the pax? Do you have the study guide? The study guide helps.

What month did everyone take their PAX exam? Mine was in Dec, but rescheduled to January. I'm guessing that is why my status still says applied, even though I have all but 1 pre-req done and a high GPA, there is no way I could of got in with my pax score. I've been waiting for the denial letter to come, just to see if my score was the only reason. But nothing!

The letter won't tell you the reason, you have to make an appointment in admissions to speak to the nursing guy, his name is Jim.

I took my pax in November. My denial wasn't my PAX it was because I still have pre reqs to do. I am taking ap2 and micro now and will have all the classes finished by December as long as I take a summer class.

I falsely though my high pax and high gpa were going to override not having all the pre reqs done. Oops.

I took the rescheduled PAX as well and already received a denial so that may be a good sign for you ?

I sadly thought that too :(. I had other things in my resume going for me too that I thought would help in addition to that but I now realize it wouldn't matter if you are a Rhodes scholar with a 1600 SAT and a phd, it just comes down to the prereqs. At first I was disappointed but on second thought I'm glad the scoring system is simple and straight forward, at least now I know what I have to do.
