Microbiology
Micro is all memorization. Are you making flash cards? Creating mnemonic devices? Studying each day instead of cramming is key.

Is there such thing as financial aid for graduate school?
There is graduate financial aid. You can get federal direct loans; I think it's about $20,500 a year.

Getting into nursing school when you have a previous bachelor's degree in something else
!!! :) Well as long as you are eligible for financial aid here then you should be golden! I believe that you still would be ineligible for grants but would have all of the loan money available. There are also PLUS loans but I am not entirely sure how they work.

Also, if you have not capped out your federal loans (it's around $57,000) then you are still able to get some loan money but you will not be eligible for any grants. Unfortunately the loan money most likely will not cover each semester's tuition so you will have to come up with a funding plan or private student loans. I never recommend private student loans. In fact, if I were a student at Hogwarts (Slytherin probably), my boggart would be my private student loans' promissory notes. I doubt there is even a patronus big enough to vanquish them. :) (I hope someone gets this)

Any federal financial aid you have received is stored in the NSLDS and when you file your FAFSA, which you would have to do to receive financial aid, anything you have ever received will show up (Subsidized, unsubsidized, any federal grants).

NYU Spring 2016
Private student loans are notoriously hard to get, it's not like the glory days of 06-08 when they were handing them out like party favors. *shivering thinking of my undergrad private debt* But seriously, you need a co-signer. >90% of private student loans need co-signers. Seriously consider a different route if private student loans are something you are going to need. I am buried in private student loan debt from a B.S. from a private Jesuit school. The monthly payment is like an ice storm to rush hour traffic, crippling. *screaming* DO NOT DO IT.

I had Dr. Campbell, he is hilarious. I guess he also teaches at Kulpmont. Here are 4 oranges, now which is the most orange? Good lord. What even is that?

Congratulations! I took pharmacology this semester and the professor, who also teaches the nursing classes, mentioned that over 20% of the new nursing students were going to fail the first semester; scared me a bit. I am really happy that you did so well!

Hi! It's done on a points system to get accepted. Each grade in the pre reqs is equivalent to 1-6 points. Those with the highest get in the program. You get bonus points if you were denied last year as well as if you are registered for spring.

Thanks! I will only have one pre req left after this semester so hopefully that doesn't hurt me come application time.

Try not to look at it as a wasted year. Use this time to study for the pax. Take it in April. If you do not pass, take it in the fall. You have two chances to pass it! :) they do not care what the score is, just that you get over 100. The best advice I have for that test is just to relax. Do not obsess over the clock. Math scares a lot of people because they perceive it to be hard but if you just learn the basic rules (geometry, converting decimals and fractions, order of operations etc. etc.) you will be fine. And remember lccc only wants the composite score over 100 so if you aren't that good at math you can make up for in in the verbal and science section. Do all the practice tests in the book, it is really going to help you. You will get over a 100 this time. Have faith in yourself because a positive attitude is definitely going to help you the morning you sit down for that test. :)
