Lung Center of the Philippines: Basic Skills Training

World Philippines

Published

They are currently screening for Basic Skills Training in LCP. Has anyone tried this? Would you guys recommend this? This is a 3-month training: 1 month lecture and 2 months practicum. It costs 6,000 pesos.

@bettyboop09 -- hahaha. AGAIN, i didn't have connections/backers. i myself was surprised! :) i find your reactions very normal, believe me, i understand because i've tried applying at many tertiary hospitals but still no luck. so i opted for this Lung Center BST instead. i dont know why others weren't accepted for it, i don't know why others were told to wait. when i first went there to inquire, they were very snobbish but when i returned with the complete requirements, they were accomodating. they even told me to take it seriously, no more than 6 absences :) i was also very straightforward, composed and persistent but with a smile.

my problem is after the training.. i gotta land a REAL job! i hope this BST somehow gives me an edge. but im not relying on it entirely. there so much competition :nurse:

oh ok jessnextdoor. good luck anyway.:D

@ jessnextdoor: May I know what your board rating is? That is, if you don't mind telling it. It might be the reason why they were very accomodating to you and accepted your application on the spot.

Maybe they have a policy that if you have an average of 80% above, they will accept you, no questions asked...

Just a hunch though. =)

@ jeryl - hi jeryl, that may be the case, though i've never thought it would be the top priority for trainings such as this.

im a bit confused as to why nursing training departments would be choosy or would want to screen those whom they would be allowing to undergo this Basic Skills Training because it's just training, right? no assurance that we'd be hired after the practicum. and there's a 6k fee already.. *sigh*

thanks for the insight. im learning a lot from everyone in this forum :)

jessnextdoor... may i pls ask for the website of lung center??.. thanks... ^_^

ey there jessnextdoor! i guess we're batchmates then :)) what group are you in? funny how some people would think that you can only get into training if you have a "backer" when you can either have a very good qualification or have a very good qualification (haha!). anyhoo...great seeing you here! hope to bump into you sometime! best of luck in the case pres! :)

hi janina :) im in group 3. ate jane already created a Yahoo group for us Batch18. check your email if you havent joined yet. see you, Godbless! --de mesa, jessica :)

to jessnextdoor, What are their criterias in accepting applicants for bst?

I'm a 2006 Arellano University graduate, 06/07 board passer, never had clinical experience, been working at a call center for almost 3 years. Do you think they will accept me?

I heard there were people who weren't accepted..

I think lcp and nkti are the only good hospitals that provide basic skills training..nkti has a lot of requirements to complete (bls should be by red cross, hepa b screening)

what if ur IVT card is still on process in ANSAP and BLS is not from redcross, they did still accept the applications. Thanks.

@joanbunyi - Requirements:

1. Resume with latest picture

2. TOR including Diploma & RLE Records (xerox)

3. Board Rating (xerox)

4. PRC License (xerox, back to back)

5. PRC Certificate (xerox)

6. Picture 1x1 - 2 pcs.

7. Chest X-ray & PPD (c/o LCP. they will give you instructions regarding this)

8. Brown Envelope (long)

9. BLS Certificate (xerox) / ID (xerox, back to back)

Regarding your question, "Do you think they will accept me? I heard there were people who weren't accepted.." -- I wont be able to answer that. you have to find out by going there passing the COMPLETE requirements. if you dont have the complete requirements they will say come back next batch or next year. This July 6,2009 they already started accepting applications for the next batch so i suggest you go there na if you really want to join. And if you're still working at the call center it would be hard (if not impossible) to juggle it with this BST. Good luck, Godbless :)

@steadRN - as long as you have the ANSAP IVT certificate you can present that and give them a xerox copy and just inform them that ANSAP hasnt released your IVT card yet. I dont know about the BLS if they will accept if not from Red Cross.
