They are currently screening for Basic Skills Training in LCP. Has anyone tried this? Would you guys recommend this? This is a 3-month training: 1 month lecture and 2 months practicum. It costs 6,000 pesos.
i'll be starting my training at the Lung Center of the Philippines on June 15. I registered and completed all requirements last week. Aside from the 6,000 training fee, I paid 300 for the CXR, 300 for the PPD, 150 for the Lung Center T-shirt (required!), and 340 for the scrub suit (with name ebroidered. required!).
@nurseHarbee -- actually, i dont have any 'connection' inside. i just walked in the training office a week and a half ago and presented all the requirements. then they said that if my performance is very good, being hired is possible. they're actually very nice to me. the last time i was there, they had us choose sizes for our scrub suits that we'll be using for our assigned areas. i think there are 50 nurses per batch. the downside to this is spending a lot of money without the assurance that you'll be hired. bright side? while looking or waiting for a 'real' job, through these trainings we can keep ourselves busy and gain as much knowledge and skills we can use.
@cathybedrio -- i think the cut-off was last week. maybe they will accept you for the next batch of trainees (september '09). i suggest you call first before you go there. (02)9246101 local 270. volunteering is also good if the hospital you're aiming for is reputable, or one that is known to give good training.
anyway, if some of you have any more questions regarding the training, please leave me a message :redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe
Might be you have connections inside..that's why your able to join the training...hmmp
nurseharbee, i was about to tell the same thing last night, i really tried not to write/comment at all because i might offend that user and or any body else..haha..but since you've posted exactly the same thought i had in my mind, i second the motion.=p
@bettyboop09 -- hahaha. AGAIN, i didn't have connections/backers. i myself was surprised! :) i find your reactions very normal, believe me, i understand because i've tried applying at many tertiary hospitals but still no luck. so i opted for this Lung Center BST instead. i dont know why others weren't accepted for it, i don't know why others were told to wait. when i first went there to inquire, they were very snobbish but when i returned with the complete requirements, they were accomodating. they even told me to take it seriously, no more than 6 absences :) i was also very straightforward, composed and persistent but with a smile.
my problem is after the training.. i gotta land a REAL job! i hope this BST somehow gives me an edge. but im not relying on it entirely. there so much competition
at r0b0c0p who sent me a private message but i am not allowed to send you one i think because of your setting. i will reply here instead:
no. payment is the last step. they also wont mention it unless you ask. i didn't ask right away because ive already checked the fee on their website before going there. they didn't ask me for the payment until after all the requirements have been completed and the after xray & PPD results.

nope there are other training that do not require BST provided you have at least a minimum of 1 year hospital experience.
