Lunchtime Fodder for Teachers

Published

It has come to my attention that I come up regularly at the teacher lunch table each day. It appears that several co-workers don't mind openly bashing me and criticizing me for the medical decisions that I make in my school.

As they say.....Hater's gonna Hate !! Come do my job for one day. You may stop your gossip about me after you've tried it.

The truth is,everyone talks about everyone. I have NEVER seen a cattier bunch in my life!

It is part of the reason why I do not eat lunch in the teacher's lounge. Anyone who isn't present is fair game.

Well, it's HS.

I am pretty outgoing. Shocking, I know. I'm also very friendly and inclusive.

The first day of school here I sat alone at a table and texted my old work friends.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Snowy ! So true !

They obviously have nothing interesting going on in their lives if you are all they have to talk about. Plus, they are just petty and ignorant....

Do you want us to come jump them in the parking lot for you??? Give them something better to discuss for tomorrow.

No - they are scared, it sounds like. Not boring lives, petty, or ignorant. Just that they're not nurses and they are human.

Yea, Korky. Because we are so scary.

At least as far as the "thong thing."

Teachers have to put up with a lot of BS from renewing credentials/certifications, dealing with parents who have "perfect kids" (and that behavior lasts through college now), being able to punish kids who are rotten without hurting their precious feelings, etc. That's NO excuse, but maybe they're just a bit envious that, while your job has problems, you don't have to deal with all that nonsense.

Let me reiterate, it's NO excuse, but I have teacher friends and if I had to put up with half the BS they do I'd lose my **** in a second (just the parents alone would drive me up a wall).

The most scared person in that scenario was the poor, young, Art Teacher who was asked by OldDude "Hey, can you do me a favor...?"

You are not a school nurse, I'm thinking.

The school nurse seems an odd target for their frustrations, though.

PS I eat lunch in my office by myself because once I was in the faculty break room and someone made a comment about me spreading germs from my "dirty office" while I was filling my water bottle. I think it was a joke but it was stupid and I was brand new and already lonely so I didn't think it was very funny.

This was probably the same person who covers their mouth and nose with their (filthy) hand whenever they have to come ask me a question.

I've read the human hand is a filter for 99% of bacteria. Good call, teach.

I'm sorry they're being catty. I just don't get why people feel to the need to openly gossip about the school nurse. Not that we should ever have to defend our nursing actions, but I'm always willing to explain why I do something to teachers if they have questions. The teachers may not agree with me, but they know they can ask.

It sucks that your teachers have just decided to immature instead. It's not like you're dealing with different students.
