LSU CRNA 2020

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello!

I wanted to start a thread for all of us applying to LSU’s CRNA program starting in 2020. Past forums have seemed to be helpful in keeping up with timelines and connecting with one another. Can’t believe it’s time, but here we go!

@CCRNCalifornia I asked about weekends/holidays in my interview because their packet provided says you only get 28 days of vacation total for the program. The only rotation that takes a true night shift (approx 11p-7a) is the trauma rotation. The large majority of the other clinicals are M-Fri during the day or early evening.

You only get 1 holiday off, I believe. You can't be at clinical any day that the LSU school itself is closed but you may be at your clinical site working the days before/after the holiday and are unable to go home because of that.

It was unclear to me if LSU provides housing for clinicals - does anyone know?

They were clear about not providing housing for most places however they did say that they try to place two females together and perhaps can find a room to share in houses by current CRNAs.
Concerning holidays, I’m curious to know if “closed” is considered 11/27-12/2 for Thanksgiving and 12/24-1/2 for Christmas&New Years which aren’t very long breaks to fly home, but are manageable. I don’t mind having clinical rotations on any other holidays but the above Holidays would really be the only opportunity to see family during the program! ?

I interviewed Thursday and got a call Friday. They mentioned at the interview to “expect a call at any time”, but that they will be calling until this coming Friday.

Does anyone know if/when we will be notified if we don’t get accepted? I’d rather know for sure one way or the other.

I was told that we should hear back by the first week of November, which I'm assuming means both acceptance and waitlist/not accepted.

Did anyone on here apply to USM as well? Do you remember how their process for letters of recommendations worked? Were they to mailed in? Submitted online?

Hi! I am applying to LSU, FranU in BR, and USM. I got an interview to USM. It’s virtual next week. Let me know if y’all hear from any of the other schools. Good luck!

Had mine today! Went well! They asked clinical and personal questions. More personal for sure. Mostly stuff based off your resume as far as clinical. Good luck!
