LSU BSN Spring 2015

Published

Hi all!

I've recently changed my major to pre-nursing, and am applying for the Spring 2015 semester this August! I've got tons of questions, and also have gathered a lot of research about the program from past forums and current students. This thread, I'm sure, will be helpful in both easing our nerves and providing insight about the upcoming application process! It seems to be different for every semester. I get attacked by my anxiety every time I question if my GPA will suffice! Has anyone started the application process yet (i.e., personal statement, HESI, etc.?)

also ... have any of you had or do any of you know of a type of job in a hospital or clinic that someone can do while applying for school? something that requires little to no certification (i will for sure get one if I need to, just not one that takes 6 months etc to obtain), just so you can get your feet wet in the field? I don't want to continue working in my marketing job if there is something i can potentially be doing to make myself more qualified for school. thanks!

Just curious, for those that got in, what's the next step for you guys?

We have to return the acceptance confirmation form by this Friday. All the letter said was that more information will be forthcoming once they receive our confirmation. They provided us with orientation dates but that's about it.

I got in, first time applying etc. I was clearly below some of you in the alt list in terms of GPA and HESI, i can only surmise my paper, interview or background must have won them over.

On a side note, I was also initially told I was unqualified, turned out I sent 2 transcripts and they only had 1 on hand when making the decision... but it was sent and received, so probably some kind of clerical error.

i look forward to meeting y'all on orientation.

Wouldn't doubt it. Admin is notorious for those kind of things.

If you do not mind me asking what was your GPA and HESI score? I am just trying to get an idea of what the average gpa and hesi scores were?

for those who got in, did any of you still have classes in progress? i want to apply again in Jan, but that's also when I will start taking 2 classes that I have a C in. My only concern is if they make final decisions before the semester is over, then I will just be applying with the same GPA that kept me out the first time. Any thoughts?

I would ask specifically to the admissions person. Glen Landry

I would not talk to Glen Landry he is the one that told me the chemistry I had taken would be accepted and turns out it was not. I was told I was in eligible to proceed luckily I had requested to speak with the dean and he allowed me to proceed. Thankfully I got in on my first try I had a 74% heis score and a 3.5 GPA I think it was my interview and my paper that won them over for me

Wierd Glen was great when reviewing my complicated transcripts. That sucks that you had a bad experience.
