Hi all!
I've recently changed my major to pre-nursing, and am applying for the Spring 2015 semester this August! I've got tons of questions, and also have gathered a lot of research about the program from past forums and current students. This thread, I'm sure, will be helpful in both easing our nerves and providing insight about the upcoming application process! It seems to be different for every semester. I get attacked by my anxiety every time I question if my GPA will suffice! Has anyone started the application process yet (i.e., personal statement, HESI, etc.?)
I got on the alternate list as well. My prereq gpa is a 3.4 and my HESI an 84. My stats are stunning but I didn't think they were grounds for me not being accepted. I have a couple years of hands on experience as a CNA, have shadowed numerous nurses in different areas, and I have a Bachelor's in Psychology from Loyola New Orleans. I thought my interview went wonderfully and I thought there was a slim chance that I would not be accepted. I am absolutely devastated right now I also don't understand why the wait list is not ranked. I wonder when they will finalize the admissions list. Any ideas?
@k_johnson07 I'm in the same boat as you , my gpa was great and interview went wonderful my paper I thought was good as well and I'm on the alternate list. I called mrs. Gravoilet earlier and she basically said that 102 people were offered spots and the remaining 90 people got in the alternate list (which in my opinion is stupid) she said that however many spots are free from people not accepting their spots the dean will be choosing the best qualified. It makes no sense and the odds of getting picked are very slim.
my gpa was from southeastern a 3.5, and my hesi was a 74.34, i have my emt basic license and have been working in an ER for ever a year now his was my first time applying and i am happy to say i got in, at first i was ineligible they said because i took the wrong chemistry but i was told by a factually member at lsu that the one i had taken was correct. so i had requested to speek to the dean about it and he gave me the ok to proceed with the interviews and if i was accepted this time around i would not have to go and make up the correct chemistry. so i am happy i got in that wasy i would not have to go wait my time with that useless class.
Congrats to everyone who got in. i just got back in town to find out I am on the wait list. Obviously bummed, but I knew deep down that I should have waited to apply once I pulled up two of my grades. Oh well, at least I know now what the process is like. I just hope I get in next time around (which seems brutal considering the amount of people that apply in Jan)
