Hello

I am not an lpn but am thinking about becoming one and i have researched salaries.

I have seen salaries as low as $12 an hour and as high as $18 an hour.

What is the average starting salary for A NEW lpn?

Just want to know if I will be able to pay off my student loan!

I work for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California and I started at $25.00. After one year I picked up Lead LVN II and now I am making over $28.00. Our wages are suppose to increase to those of our Northern California soon, that should be an increase of at least $3.00 to 4.00. Get with a good company that has been around and will be around for some time.

whoa whoa whoa...now are we talking san diego county, orange county or L.A county because I am in Orange county and would LOVE to go to kaiser. BUT ..I had NO idea they hired LVN'S....is that in PEDS ???

It depends on a few things on how much you get paid. One: is location. Some states pay more than others. Two: The facility type. Generally nursing homes pay more. I think it's because they utilize the LPN more than the hospital setting which usually hire RNs. Three: Would be shift. Nights and evenings pay more than days. Those are only a few factors to consider.

I am a GVN in San Antonio. My ALF has offered me $17.00 hr area NH are paying 17-20 hr.

I'm here in the southern suburbs of illinois, right outside of chicago... My first LPN job started me at $25... Hope this Helps..

do i have an opportunity working in texas?

My first job 1 year ago as an LVN was in a nursing home/rehab, and made 22.00/hr. I have since worked in home health making 19.00/hr, 12 hr shifts, so I get time and a half. I just got hired at a correctional facility, will probably start at about $25- $26/hr plus state ben. I also live in CA, and have heard of LVN's making $30/hr, possibly more.

Unless you have a greencard already you can not emigrate with LPN you need RN for immigration. Also currently retrogression is in progress and no visas and an approx wait of over 5 years. Much has already been written in the Philippine forum in the International section on LPN and no visa. If you have a greencard already then you just need to apply to BON for LPN and pass NCLEX PN

Does anyone know what the payrate is like in Mississippi for new LPNs? I've asked in that forum but I guess no one wants to tell. I'll grad. this summer and some of my classmates seem to think it's over 18/hr. I love MS but that seems a little high for around here.

Well depends on what part of MS, i can only tell you what i make and my friends and what i heard salaries are starting out at, No one i know makes less than 13 hr. Hospice pay 15-17 hr. ltc 15-20, northmississippi state regional start at 15 i think, and within a year my friend increased to 21 hr. hospitals around 13.00 hr, doctors offices around 14-16. i work in home health and make 22.50 hr with 3 years experience, assisted living around 15 or more. hope this helps, agency 26-30.

oh yeah and this is not with shift diffs, shift diff is usually $1 more hr 3-11 and 1.50 -$2more an hr for 11-7.

It is all dependent upon the area, the time, the type of job your are pursuing, the job market, your experience, and possibly your bargaining skills. My first LVN job was working for an immunization clinic at $10 an hour. At the time, I was not put down by the low rate. I have been told by a relative that in a certain state, I could have been paid $11 an hour. Where I now work, depending upon the geographic location in the state and the type of jobs, you can expect anywhere from $14 an hour to $25 an hour. It just depends. Don't sell yourself short. Do your homework and go to work for the employer that best acknowledges your worth by paying you a decent salary. When you find out that there are discrepancies between what you are being paid versus others in the same category at the same employer, then go to them and ask why. If you don't like the answer, then go find another employer that will pay you more. If you are happy at the job, then realize that you are giving up in salary what you are accepting in peace of mind and job satisfaction.

Louisiana here. LTC pays $15 to $18 here then a shift diff. I am going to work at a hospital now after 16months in LTC. I was offered 12.98/hr. shift diff is 15% for 3-11, 20% for 11-7, Big change from the $16.5 I made at the LTC. My friends....one started home health...$16 per visit, one is in a drs office...salary of $2000 a month....one went straight to a hospital from school..she is at approx. $15/hr now. I think the different states and the area in the state has alot to do with wages. If I were in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, I could certainly make higher!!!
