LPN Starting Salary

do u know of excelsior education service allows you to start your RN studies independently from scratch? i am so happy and is looking forward to startign the program real soon

RN makes at least $30.00 per hr starting salary in new york

I live in San Antonio, TX.

From what I have learned through my interviewing process:

Hospitals pay about 14-15 an hour with benefits 16-17 w/o benefits.

Nursing homes pay about 18-20 an hour with benefits.

The job that I last interviewed at for a blood bank was 16 an hour with benefits but it also is a more desireable position FOR ME. I loved my job as a Phlebotomist, I wont be dealing with sick people, since they are there to donate blood. No HIV/Hep or any of the other stuff that you would worry about in a different type of atmosphere. I am willing to take a lower paying job for a healthy state of mind!

I think the pay at hospitals is just horrible for what you have to do and as a new graduated LVN I am not willing to throw everything I worked hard for away to bust my butt.. :twocents:

Tricialynn, do you know why nursing homes would pay more? Around here, Western Mass, the nursing homes could pay up to 23 or 25 for a new lpn, depending on if you take benefits, etc.

Hello,

I am up in Canada, British Columbia. I am enrolled in one of the most reputable LPN programs in the province. I am not sure what to expect what I will be paid when coming out of the program, does anybody know, somebody here in Canada?

I am willing to relocate, I took a couple of uni courses in science and english to be up to snuff before starting the LPN.

Anybody here have a any idea?

Calling upon the Canadian LPN's. Lemme know?

I work in a hospital in Saskatchewan and I am making $24.84 and soon to move up to $25.68 an hour. Shift premium is $1.50/hr and weekend premium is $1.25/hr.

Sakskatchewan sounds very attractive as I dont think they pay that well here in B.C. Cost of living is sky high in Vancouver on top of it.

I would not hesitate to write the board exams there as I enjoy all the subjects and look as this a life time of learning.

I belive they pay nursing home LVN's more because you are basically filling 2-3 LVN's shoes! I worked for a week right after I graduated at a skilled nursing facility and I had 25 patients to myself. If I were to work at a hospital, I would have 5-6 patients tops! So nursing homes pay more because no one wants to work there, so they try to make it more desireable with higher pay. Don't get me wrong, if I were in it for just the money, I would work there, but I am more interested in what i will learn, what I can give to the patients, and just the patient care in general.

After looking at a lot of web sites it looks like starting salaries are unique to particular areas. For instance, I saw on indeed.com that salaries in New York state are 22 percent higher than the national average. I am sure some states are much lower. go figure!

I work at a dialysis facility in GA and make almost $18/hr which is great here in small town GA. Th girls that i graduated with 5 years ago are at the hospitals only making like $13/hr.

I Am A L.p.n In Michigan And The Salary Is Pretty Good. You Can Make Anywhere From 18.00 To 26.00 An Hour, Depending On What Job Your Doing. Home Care Is Where It Is At Concerning Salary Skilled Nursing Visits Range From 25/hr Per Visit To 40 /hr Per Visit Not To Bad Huh?
