LPN Starting Salary

Published

Hello

I am not an lpn but am thinking about becoming one and i have researched salaries.

I have seen salaries as low as $12 an hour and as high as $18 an hour.

What is the average starting salary for A NEW lpn?

Just want to know if I will be able to pay off my student loan!

Southern NJ here and I started as a new grad at 22.50 with a dollar shift differental. It really depends on where you live! It varies! Good luck!

When I worked in the boonies of Northern Michigan, I made 15.40. Another LPN that had been a nurse for 23 years and worked at that particular facility for over 10 yrs was making 15.70. That's right... $0.30 more per hour. That's ridiculous.

Now, I work in a metro area for $24.50. It's one of the highest paid areas in the state, though. But the facility is #2 in the state. So... it really varies on where you are geographically.

I agree 100% about location. LPN in Philadelphia area can start off making $25hr right out of school. You have to search for the good paying jobs. It's also about who you know. Some people would rather take a smaller pay cut because of the quality in the facility.

I'm a new LVN. I got hired @ $20.55/hr at an LTC. Love it! Also heard of another LTC in town hiring @ $25/hr. Good luck!

In BC (Canada) LPN's start at $22.30 and it only goes up from there.

I am a new grad and my first job is making $25.25 an hour

As an LPN in Southern West Virginia I started out at 11/hr. I made it up to 11.55 and decided to move to Kentucky. In Kentucky (east ky) I started out at 12.50 at one facility, then 10.10 at another. I'd LOVE to make 25/hr! lol

Lpn Here ! 2 years exp $20.65 plus 3 .50 shift diff and lots of overtime if you want it !

Pay rate depends on location and if you work LTC or Hospital. Also Per Diem and Agencies always pay more usually $3-5 an hour more.

Pittsburgh, PA between $19-22

Specializes in ER, GI.

First of all- i suggest not getting in debt over LVN school, if u can,- go 2 a comm. college, i did and have $0 debt, and actually got my classes pain for.

As far as sallary, i don't know where u r but here in the Inland Empire in So. Cali, i just got hired at $20/ hr. this is my 1st job as a nurse i just graduated in Aug. 06.

However, this is very high compared to all other places around here ( i got lucky) The highest i've seen is $17, most places are about $15.

Hope this helps, good luck!

I think it depends on what area of speciality you work.and what part of the Us your in .I make 20.00 at a job I absolutely love!!Ive also worked at places making 22.00 an hour which ive hated.Sometimes as long as you love your position its ok to make a little less.I cant believe 11 or 12 dollars an hour though. That definitely seems like a slap in the face.

First job as a new grad LPN: $23.50 during the week, $25 on weekends.

Got a raise. I make 27.04 an hour. I am a nurse manager also.
