Hello
I am not an lpn but am thinking about becoming one and i have researched salaries.
I have seen salaries as low as $12 an hour and as high as $18 an hour.
What is the average starting salary for A NEW lpn?
Just want to know if I will be able to pay off my student loan!
When I worked in the boonies of Northern Michigan, I made 15.40. Another LPN that had been a nurse for 23 years and worked at that particular facility for over 10 yrs was making 15.70. That's right... $0.30 more per hour. That's ridiculous. Now, I work in a metro area for $24.50. It's one of the highest paid areas in the state, though. But the facility is #2 in the state. So... it really varies on where you are geographically.
I agree 100% about location. LPN in Philadelphia area can start off making $25hr right out of school. You have to search for the good paying jobs. It's also about who you know. Some people would rather take a smaller pay cut because of the quality in the facility.
First of all- i suggest not getting in debt over LVN school, if u can,- go 2 a comm. college, i did and have $0 debt, and actually got my classes pain for.
As far as sallary, i don't know where u r but here in the Inland Empire in So. Cali, i just got hired at $20/ hr. this is my 1st job as a nurse i just graduated in Aug. 06.
However, this is very high compared to all other places around here ( i got lucky) The highest i've seen is $17, most places are about $15.
Hope this helps, good luck!
I think it depends on what area of speciality you work.and what part of the Us your in .I make 20.00 at a job I absolutely love!!Ive also worked at places making 22.00 an hour which ive hated.Sometimes as long as you love your position its ok to make a little less.I cant believe 11 or 12 dollars an hour though. That definitely seems like a slap in the face.
