LPN starting pay $26.50!

My brother just finished up his LPN school a few months ago, he got hired here in the metro detroit area in MI for $26.50 starting.

I am attending the same school he went to, I am half way done and will be graduating in 9 months I was hoping people in other states could help me guide my search for high-paying LPN cities in different states.

I'm in Houston, Texas and I make 25.00/hr 1.00 for nights 2.00 for weekends, with benefits.....Ive also lived in CT for 2 years and made like 30.00/hr but the cost of living is so much higher in the north than the south.

lol me too! The most I made was $28/hour Per Diem (NJ) ...no benefits or ANYTHING additional.

I wont discuss what Im making now :crying2: :lol2:

slim pickings in jersey donna67 bergen county nj alot of per diems, home care and a litle ltc facilities.

how soon was it after you passed your nclex did the state send your license information

Per the NJ BoN, once your license # issued you can legally work as an LPN you do not need to have the hard copy.

Good luck. For Jobs in central NJ (Monmouth/Ocean) area--LTC, home care, some MD offices & clinics. Most hire per diem then may offer PT/FT post successful orientation.

Np..umm cant remember exact dates but I would say roughly a month give or take. Not too long though. Good luck on your search and everything.

I live in northern Louisiana, low cost of living, new grad rn's start off at 20-22 an hour. I just landed a LPN job in LTC with starting pay at 17 an hour with benefits. This is great pay for my area.

dang that is some high pay you all are posting for LPN, I hope to land a job soon, I hope it somewhere around there, but I haven't seen any posts for Northern VA.

Actually, That is very typical where I live. Whenever I tell people that their usual reply is "thats because you live where the cost of living is high" Not true. I know in the Midwest all nurses are underpaid. I thought of moving out to Oklahoma to live near family but RNs were making 18 an hour. Two years of school for that? I don't think so.

You will be hard pressed to find that kind of salary elsewhere.

Was this LTC? I'm trying to get an idea of the LPN market in TX. I know alot of hospitals shy away from LPN's.
