LPN Starting pay in your area?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi, I'm a soon to be LPN curious about the average start pay in the field. Please state the area and the facility type please. Thank you.

Philadelphia/Delaware County area $18-$25/hr in nursing homes/LTC/rehabs, $9-$11/hr for Adult Daycares, $20-$30 for agency and hhc

Specializes in 4.

I started as an LVN in Southern California in 2011, making $17.00 per hour doing temp work. I suggest using indeed.com to check the pay rates in your area. The hardest part for me wasn't the pay but the lack of jobs willing to help me gain nursing experience. I had to hustle and I got my experience. It is definitely hard and you are competing with so many for 1 job.

I'm currently working in an LTC in the North Bay Area as an LVN, my starting is $28/hour. New grad rate although I have a month experience.

Specializes in Home health, Addictions, Detox, Psych and clinics..

CA- 16-19, WA- 17.5-25, CO- 17-24. :)) I have worked in all three states lol. CO is my favorite state to practice in!

These are the typical starting rates in home health and LTC that I am aware of. CA can be higher but in general pays less than WA and CO for sure. I'm am getting paid 28 per visit in home health and 20hourly for PDN, I also work doing health fairs and that's 22hr and this is in CO.

Upstate NY--Hospital clinic. $13/hr with no experience

Might I ask what part of upstate NY? I'm in the Corning area and going into the LPN program this year in August. That pay is really disappointing...

Central coast of California: 20/hr- new grad rate. They actually hire new grads here too! I make a few dollars over that due to my few years of experience though.

In MS. starting pay for LPNs in LTC is $16-$18/hr., in clinics $14-$17/hr., Agency $16-$23/hr.

What part of MS?

I live in Rural Missouri and have been an LPN for almost 2 years. Long-term care can be as low as $16.50/hr. But I have never accepted under $18.50. FYI if a long-term care in one of the poorest counties in the state (Washington) can pay $18.00/hr all long-term cares in Missouri can.

Oh and that is nightshifts, but a lot of places I have seen don't pay shift diff.

Specializes in Nurse manager, IV certified, Admissions.

I live in Ohio. Most long term facilities pay 18.00 to 22.00. I am currently working as an independent provider, averaging about 25.00 an hour. I do in home private duty through the state Medicaid/Medicare system. It is currently undergoing changes with different entities managing the care of the patients. I have been a nurse since 1998. I prefer private duty over facilities any day.

I am in Houston Tx and was just offered a job starting out at $19/hr and that is day shift 7-3

Rural West Tennessee starting pay new grad $16.50.
