LPN/LVN rate of pay in your area.

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

This topic has been around before, but I was looking for something more up to date. Things have fluctuated in past two years or so. I know people are always looking for salaries and most of the time its for RN's. I'll start ;-)

Around the Cincinnati area here I'm not sure about the starting pay or pay in hospitals for LPN's. But I know LTC facilities are about 16 to start ranging up to about 22. I've seen ad's in the paper saying $24 but I don't know what that was for. Agencys are about 21-25 dollars for LPN's also. I believe Jobs are plentiful around here! Also when I was up in columbus, I heard an instructor saying they are starting their LPN's out with $27-30 while the RN's get about $40-50 ..I don't really believe that, but I just tossed that out there maybe for some clarification?

are there any lpn out there from idaho. Im looking for new job would like some support or advice thanks... pay rate , area to work ,ect...

Hello

I am from Michigan and though I am not a nursing student quite yet I do know that 2 people who worked with me in the LTC Facility that I am currently at graduated from their LPN program and went to a county facility starting out at $19.00 per hour. Thats not too bad for a new graduate LPN.

P>S> Although Michigan is now getting more expensive to live in !!!!!!!

What Part of Michigan do you live or what county is it that you are refering too, the reason I ask is cause I have a brother who lives in Detroit, MIchigan in the County of Wayne and for what I was told and heard through the grape Vine is that Wayne County is not a great place to raise a family unless if you want your kids to be in the study of Crime and Drug or Robbery Career lololo :chuckle :biggringi :roll :specs: :clown: :chair:  :yelclap: :smiley_ab :lol_hitti :smackingf :biere:

Deep Detroit is the bad area as all states have areas that are bad. The right cities are fine, Clinton Township, Macomb & Oakland cty, are fine. My kids grew up in MI . They are great kids. Honest, decent, no drugs, etc. # 1 was a Marine :) , # 3 studying to be a Dr. # 2 a phenominal muscian :Melody: who is touring US & Europe. It is how you parent and kids react to any kind of situation. Must know right from wrong from the beginning. Northern MI is beautiful, Holland, Traverse City, Wayne state is one of the top colleges in medicine. Then you have HFH top hospital in Neuro , ortho, & cardiac, Schools in Oakland Cty are top blue ribbon, I can go on & on with basically positve things to say. :)

I live in Augusta, Ga. The rate is anywhere between 12.00 and 16.00. I think the VA hospital has the best pay/benefits package though. Agencies pay between 18.00 and 25.00.

anyone work in San Diego..know the rates??

I live in NYC and work in The Bronx for the past ten years. I know that the nurses in ambulatory care start at $34,000.00 a year these are new grads. There is a scale based on years experience. 0-5 $34,000 5-9 $36,000 10 or more years $39,000. This is union scale. When you are looking at the yearly rate you have to think about "how are the benifits" And, what is the cost of living in your area? :Melody:

Finally after reading all the posts, theres a nurse in NYC. Curious as to what type of facility do you work in ?

I havent gotten my license yet but i've been searching want ads and it seems like every place only wants an Lpn with expierience unless its a LTC facility.

Anyone from South Carolina? I"ll be moving there shortly.

Pay in southern California in a snf is terrible. I started out making 14.00 an hour on the swing and noc shifts. LVNs do everything here except iv meds and messing with picc and central lines. It's terrible....A new admit will throw your med pass way off! I had 30 patients on the swing shift and 59 on the noc shift. I worked at another place for a short time and they started me at 17.00 an hour... I didn't have to admit people, but the care was horrendous there and I did not want any part of it.

I'm not from SC but I've worked there and probably will again. It really depends on where you work (location and area). The larger the city in Carolina the more money you make but overall don't expect more than 22/hr.

I have a close friend in El Paso, TX who is a LPN/LVN and she was making $17-18 per hour. Recently was hired by a previous co-worker who knew the quality of her work and is paying her $24/hr. I think that amount is probably pretty high for the area, but obviously some places are willing to pay it. Plenty of jobs for nurses.

Dayton, OH new grad here...

I was hired on at a hospital for $17.50 third shift (with an additional dollar on the weekend). A home care visit through an agency is $25 here. Most of my friends from nursing school that were hired in LTC got $17-21.

Hello fellow Nurses

I've worked for a city hospital for about eleven years. Starting was 24 a year with diff. I'm at about 34 a year now.

Truth be told its not enough for all the work we do, but I feel that everyone thinks the grass is greener on the otherside.

The grass here is a funky brown how about yours? :chuckle

I have worked for San Francisco General Hospital for 8 years and make $29.50 base +10% ($2.95) differential for night shift: $32.45/ hour. That includes full benefits and retirement.

The current starting rate is listed at: $23.00 - 27.95 Hourly. We have had a freeze on COLA increases for a couple of years due to the bad economy and subsequent budget crisis, but that has now changed. We are due to get raises again this fiscal year (July 1, 2005).

I hope this is helpful. Jay
