  1. I know exactly what you are talking about. I went to the DON. I can just say. Be careful as to what you say. Because it may harm you instead. Because they are aware of everything. And now that they know that you know what is going on well, just watch your back. I didn't.
  2. I think that you will find the right area of nursing as time goes by. I have been an LPN since 1975. i worked, ER, ICU CCU and transferred to the OR. I loved my job. I also worked recently in assisted living. I loved all my residents. They were beautiful, So you will be just fine, Nursing is caring.
  3. I don't mean to sound sarcastic or anything, but if you plan on being a nurse, read what you just said and think about it. To be a nurse, you go to nursing school. However, to be a good nurse you have to be caring, have empathy and not have an attitude. You have a choice to where you want to work, but no matter where you choose, remember, to be a good nurse is to be caring. One day someone you know or yourself will need some kind of care. Be open minded ok?
  4. NURSE MATES style Dove, feel like marshmallows, light on your feet and very supportive. Also, as you walk they expand to your own toe span, so there is no rubbing or sore feet. I love them You can get them at any uniform store.
  5. I live in AL. In a assisted living it is about $14 per hour. PRN is higher up to around 16. Not sure as for clinics or hospitals. Clinics I believe vary per experience.
  6. : Deep Detroit is the bad area as all states have areas that are bad. The right cities are fine, Clinton Township, Macomb & Oakland cty, are fine. My kids grew up in MI . They are great kids. Honest, decent, no drugs, etc. # 1 was a Marine :) , # 3 studying to be a Dr. # 2 a phenominal muscian :Melody: who is touring US & Europe. It is how you parent and kids react to any kind of situation. Must know right from wrong from the beginning. Northern MI is beautiful, Holland, Traverse City, Wayne state is one of the top colleges in medicine. Then you have HFH top hospital in Neuro , ortho, & cardiac, Schools in Oakland Cty are top blue ribbon, I can go on & on with basically positve things to say. :) :)
  7. I live in Montgomery. Pay here I guess from low to agency good. At this time I am looking for a lot higher pay that I am getting now.Where are you at in AL?
  8. Hi, I am in Montgomery, AL now. I lived in MI all my life and miss it. I am from Oakland County, Rochester Hills. If I decide to move back it will probably be like in Berkley, or Clinton Township. Don't know. My 2 best friends are in Oakland county. So it would be close to them. I don't really know anyone here except people at work.
  9. I am like you, however I only make $14 an hour, only nurse there with 57 residents. i am sooo tired I work 3-11 no shift differential and they dont ever give raises. I want to find another job. I am also looking for an agency that pays with health benefits. Any suggestions
  10. I would like to do agency work as well. I am working at an Assisted living facility, I work afternoons, only nurse there with 54 residents. I never stop. I don't get differential and my hourly pay is $14 an hour. I am sooo tired because I never get done till like 12, sometimes later than that. I am originally from MI. It is getting quite difficult to keep this pase up for only $14, raises they don't give. If you tell me what agencies are best I would appreciate it so much Also I need health benefits as we all do. Thanks
  11. Hi, There is a book called Reading EKGS Correctly, It is a Nursing SkillBook. The version is Nursing77. It is easy and understandable. However, you may have to look for it because it was a series of books that you could order. I also have one that is Giving Cardiovascular drugs safely. Oh, authors are Margaret Van Meter, RN and Peter G. Levine, MD if that might help, Take care and good louck.
