i am just curious regards to the starting rate of pay for newly LPN grads upon hire in all and many different states here in the US. I am currently in mcallen, tx. but i plan to move around to different states to see where i like to work best so I would like to know the different rates of pay for different states.
I got hired for a nursing postion for when I graduate in may at the hospital I've been working at as a CNA my starting pay is 12.27 with a 2 dollar shift diff for night shift. I live in VA this is kinda low but the hospital will pay all of my tuition up front for me to continue my education once I'm there for six months, benefits aren't bad, and I really love working here. Although LTC is tempting since I know a couple new grads making $22 an hour! hehe oh well I'll get by :)

I live in northern NJ and the starting rate for LPN is $ 25.00-$ 28.00. However, living exp is high. Agency work is a lot higher $32.00 per hr.:monkeydance:

but the real question is, how is the demand for LPNs in northern NJ?? are they hiring a lot of LPNs there? Cause if so, I would like to try and see if I could work there .... im pretty much at the crossroads right now, flexible in deciding where to start myself as a new LPN grad ... so if you know or if u can recommend some hospitals/nursing homes/LTC's/agencies that are currently hiring LPNs, I would greatly appreciate it!!!!
$21.50/hour for hospital/public health LTC.
Private LTC/nursing homes can be either lower or much higer, depending on the demand in that home. One private nursing home that was really poorly run and going through staff turnover constantly offered $35/hour for LPN's to hire them!!! Although I think this was just a short term contract wage to get them in the door. Same nursing home RNs $60/hour!!!
This is for the Okanagan in BC, Canada

I am surprised that detroit pays that much for new grads. How is the cost of living? There was a special on television recently about the outrageous number of foreclosures in the area.
