LPN grads STARTING PAY $/HR

Published

i am just curious regards to the starting rate of pay for newly LPN grads upon hire in all and many different states here in the US. I am currently in mcallen, tx. but i plan to move around to different states to see where i like to work best so I would like to know the different rates of pay for different states.

:uhoh3:
In Daytona, hospitals don't want to even hire LPNs. Home Health Agencies want 6-12 months hospital experience and they pay arount 17-20per visit with benefits. My question is how do you get the experience if hospitals won't hire you? Nursing homes pay $18 an hour. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's a matter of supply and demand. Since hospital work involves more prestige, that's where many nurses want to be employed. Therefore, hospitals do not need to pay high salaries to attract nurses, especially LPNs. If no one believes me about the prestige aspect, think of it this way...have you ever seen a major television series or movie set entirely in a nursing home? Many films and TV shows have been set in hospitals, because hospitals are glorified and regarded as prestigious and exciting.

However, administrators have to offer attractive pay rates to get people to work in nursing homes and other types of LTCFs.

I am going to be relocating to North Carolina (Raleigh area). Does anyone know what a new grad makes in North Carolina? Also, how about the nurse/patient ratio?
