i am just curious regards to the starting rate of pay for newly LPN grads upon hire in all and many different states here in the US. I am currently in mcallen, tx. but i plan to move around to different states to see where i like to work best so I would like to know the different rates of pay for different states.
I live in MS and the starting salary for LPN's is
hospitals 13.00
ltc from 14-18
home care 14-15
assisted living facilities 15
state facilities 17.25
I work in home care full time 14hr and assisted living facility and make 15hr the work is nice, you don't kill yourself and actually enjoy it. I have also worked agency at 26 hr. I don't really like agency though.
I live in a small town in south Georgia, when I first enrolled in nursing school I thought LPN's made a lot more than some actually do. Since I have graduated I have learned that that is not the case. I have been a nurse for for just six months but have went on many interviews for nursing jobs. The nursing homes offerred the most money, $14.00/hr one in our town actually offers 17.00/hr, which here in jesup is really good. The hospital that I work at now, I make $11.21/hr which is not at all what I thought I would be making when I got out of school, but I love my job and that's what counts. But you do work so that you can take care of your family. I am single and have two young children. without overtime and shift diffs. I dont know how I could make ends meet. Rn school is a must for me! Our hospital employs many Lpn's and we take on the same responsibilities as RN's, so advancement in education is a must.
In Daytona, hospitals don't want to even hire LPNs. Home Health Agencies want 6-12 months hospital experience and they pay arount 17-20per visit with benefits. My question is how do you get the experience if hospitals won't hire you? Nursing homes pay $18 an hour. Anyone have any suggestions?
