I see a lot of people who have started taking their NCLEX this month say that there are a ton of SATA questions on the test, is this a new test format that started this month? I know that it was preached in our school that SATA questions were gonna be on the test but the amount of questions seems to have increased just from reading the posts in the thread from people who tested in the last two days. I take my test today @2PM and am mighty nervous.
I should clarify that for the most part I am speaking anecdotally from experiences of myself and other June 2011 NCLEX-RN test takers. It seems that those that are passing in minimum questions are in fact seeing a high ratio of SATA style questions. If you are not seeing them, it certainly does not mean you are not doing well on the exam.
I took the NCLEX-RN yesterday and had a total of 75 questions, which included 28 SATA, 9 meds, 1 ordering, and 1 exhibit (EKG strips). There were no math questions on my test. A classmate who took the test at the same time reported that "nearly half" of her 75 questions were SATA.
Despite the heavy dose of SATAs, both of us got the "good popup." Based on our experiences, perhaps there is some validity to the theory that SATAs tend to be higher level questions.
I took the NCLEX RN two weeks ago and by the time I was on question 8, I already had 4 SATA. Out of 75qs I had about 20 SATA and some were consecutive. I was getting worried towards the end because most of the SATA qs were at the beginning of the exam and as I got to the end I didn't get anymore SATA but I got more priority qs so I was thinking that I was getting below the passing standard because I wasn't seeing anymore SATA, but nope that wasn't the case-I PASSED!
Hi all. im new to this website so not sure how to properly use the messege board. so i took my nclex saturday july 2 and due to the holiday weekend, and my board of nursing office closing for the 4th, i wont find out until tuesday if i passed or not. i have seen some people are talking about the "good pop up" from pearsonvue. so i tried that and got a pop up that said i cant register for another test and to contact the members board. please tell me that is the "good pop up"! and how accurate is that. i'm literally sick with worry. HELP
From what I understand from my instructors SATA are higher level questions, if you look at them in comparison to the standard four answer question, statistically speaking you have a better chance of choosing one right answer from four choices, than 4 or 5 correct answers from a choice of six...I took the NCLEX today, almost half of my questions were select all that apply, the most were prioritizing, very few were rote memorization answers...it took me 40 minutes, the computer shut off at 75 and I am getting the good pop up...

Despite what some people might say...SATA's are higher level thinking questions. The reason we are seeing a lot is that they take much more trial to test as valid questions than any other. Even if they ask more simple facts, they are still difficult because it's all or nothing. So if you are taking NCLEX and seeing lots of these, fear not...You are kicking butt.
