Los Angeles Harbor City College-RN

Published

Has anyone applied (or planning on applying) to the RN program at LAHC college? Is there a waitlist that you know of? Any comments, tips, or general info on this school is much appreciated.

Thanks!

thanks for the heads up... do you how many people are going to accepted this semester?

There were 400 "qualified" applicants out of the 698 applications received. Toni said they are going to take 48---possibly 49 for the fall 2010 cohort.

that seems pretty promising... i mean, 400 is better then 698.. and 49 is better than nothing. I hope we all get in!!!!

here's an idea.. Since I'm suppose to win the mega million lottery soon, I will open up an RN school called "Andrews RN School." I will accept all prospective student from this thread.

Who wants in??

Specializes in Emergency Department.

Did you guys take the 3 pre-nursing classes that is strongly recommended? I believe it is like nursing 101-103.

I'm not seeing that on their website.. do you have a link you can provide?

I tried to take the recommended classes at El Camino College.... I registered for the classes and attended the first day of class, but the teacher kicked me out of the class... it was quite embarrassing. She called me out in front of a full class... Im pretty confident all those students in her class were not enrolled in a nursing program yet. she was quite rude. She told me I could not attend her classes because I was not in a nursing program yet. Then I asked her, "Why did the Official El camino College website allow us to register for the class... There were no prerequisites.... NO WARNINGS." Because of this, I lost a semesters worth of education and money towards my nursing career. All other classes were full... So because of this incident I will not apply to El Camino College.

 SORRY HAD TO VENT! everytime someone brings up those recommended classes. I get upset and think of el camino college's nursing professors.

P.S. I signed up 2 months in advance for those class too.

tiger, what class was it. I too go to El Camino, I've only taken 1 RN class (which was an intro class) and you definitely don't have to be enrolled in a nursing program to be in the class.

I applied to El Caminos RN program, although it is pointless, their waitlist is sooooo long.

I believe it was Pharmacology. @ LA Harbor College, they will allow us to register for this class without having the need to be accepted into an RN program.

Specializes in Emergency Department.

For LA Harbor, this is on their website.

Strongly Recommended Courses

Nursing 301 A, B, C

Nursing 302 (Math of Drugs and Solutions)

Nursing 364 (Pharmacology)

Biology 33 (Medical Terminology)

I am not sure if it makes a difference to who gets selected, but they are not having summer classes so if you are selected, you have alot of work to do besides the core classes.

BUMP~ any updates on the TEAS invitations?

Tiger~

I just talked to my friend who's in the program (and has a lot of friends in the dep't) and she said NOBODY has been invited yet!!! I KNOW!!!! I have 5 friends who applied and have not even received an email or phone call. . .nothing! I think they are just really backed up with too many applications. Anyway- keep the faith. :)
