  1. For those of you who didn’t get into this program, don’t fret. I regret going through this program. It was one of the worst decisions of my life. Worst program ever! Horrible instructors who try to fail half the class, rude office staff who place people they don’t like in the worst clinical groups ie: try to assign you a clinical VERY far from your home. My friend lived south of Long Beach and because the 2 ladies in the office didn’t like her, they assigned her a clinical all the way in Oxnard!!!!! There were 2 students who lived way closer to Oxnard, but the ladies didn’t like her and she suffered for it. People will have hand-me-down copies of former exams and cheat to get A’s .... just to have the instructor turn their nose up at those who actually “studied “ and got a “B”. One instructor actually said, “I don’t understand why almost the whole class got A’s, and yet, 8 of you didn’t.” Really! Yeah, it’s because your little class teacher’s pet gave out copies of your exam! That’s why they got A’s!!!! Oh, and just a heads up... when your class is “invited” to go to the “Tea Circle” during your precious lunch break...don’t go!!!!! Or if you do go, don’t speak!!!! It’s a trap!!! The instructors are judging you by what you say. The instructors encourage you to vent and talk out your worries and fears about nursing school claiming they want to “support” you. Not so!!!!! The instructors all meet up afterward to let the other instructors know what you said and start pegging you. They will write down exactly what you said. It’s all a bunch of lies! One student spoke up about some of her feelings about the process of going thru the program. Well, guess what? An instructor failed her ***! If you sit in the last few rows of class....forget it! Instructors think you’re not nursing material. Save your money. This school is horribly overrated. Horrible teachers, horrible clinicals, endless amounts of homework. My last 4 months I only got 2 hours of sleep a night. Before that, 3 hours of sleep was considered a great night’s sleep!!! Forget your friends, family, boyfriends, girlfriends...you’re never gonna see them until after graduation. Don’t fall in love, get married, get pregnant or get sick! If you’re married, better pray you have a strong marriage because this program takes its toll on you and spouses don’t understand how grueling this program is. Don’t miss more that one class if you get sick...there’s no way to catch up after that. The worst part is, you spend half your nights printing endless amounts of papers because the school is too cheap to provide course materials. I spent a good hour a night just printing papers to prepare for the next day. Budget to replace your printer ink cartridges every week—yes, EVERY WEEK!!! Also, you will easily go thru a whole ream of paper a night just to print what you need for class each day. When I graduated, I had 6 of those 60 gallon plastic bins full of papers. The best day was throwing it all into my fireplace on graduation night. Total nightmare!!!! I don’t mean to be a downer. I know many of you are excited to start your program. I was excited, too. I know nursing programs are tough and hard. But this program is absolutely brutal! I’m just being totally honest. If you can still get into another school, do it!!!! Save your money!!!! Otherwise, count on MSMU ABSN program to be the absolute worst, most horrible time of your life! Sorry!?
  2. Reast2westN~ Did you get accepted to Mount St. Mary's Accelerated BSN program? I did!! :) So...I won't be going to LA County. Good luck to all of you...
  3. Also- CPR certification is offered on July 14 from 6-10 at Torrance Memorial Hospital. Cheaper than Santa Monica's ($50) Includes: AHA card, book, CD + AED cert. comes with it. I took the class before for my CNA and the instructor is REALLY cool. Everybody passes-guaranteed! The # to register is 310.517.4701 I will be there! Hope to meet some of you there, too. Also, say "hi" to your new cohort of Facebook--- "Mount St. Mary's Fall '10 cohort." I've already met a few of our new peeps there and they are super sweet!
  4. What is the topic for the Taylor U Bio-ethics course? I'm trying to decide if I should take it with Taylor or do it at MSMC... any "detailed" info about Taylor would be appreciated!!! Does anyone know if that class is offered at MSMC over the summer?
  5. What's the school code for the FAFSA?
  6. I'm so glad we all got accepted! Can't wait to meet you all! :)
  7. Congrats to all of you. I didn't get into Harbor--but I just got accepted to the Accelerated BSN program at Mt. St. Mary's--so I am totally happy with that. I wish you all the best of luck, and thanks for all of your kind and supportive posts you've made over the last few months. See you all in the hospital! :)
  8. I got ACCEPTED! So did my friend! I can't wait to meet you all! :) :) :) :)
  9. Sugarlips! You got me all freaked out! I just went through my trash looking for a letter!!!!
  10. Have some of you been accepted? I think Sugarlips did. Congrats!
  11. Has anyone from the last cohort taken Bio-ethics at MSMC? If so, what did you think about it? Is it too hard to take that class concurrently with all the ABSN coursework?
  12. I got a business card and so did my friend. I wouldn't worry about that--it sounds like there were two ladies conducting the interview. It was probably one lady giving magazines and one giving a card. Don't stress. Think positive thoughts. Good luck everybody! :)
  13. Bnice~ Where do they hold their clinicals. . .which hospitals?
  14. Bnice74~ What did you think of the math test? Rocky16 thought it was fairly easy. She said there were a lot of fraction conversions, percent q's, ratios and decimals. Do you remember a lot of algebra being presented on the test? Also--to *all* of the current MSMC ABSN students who are responding to these posts...THANK YOU!!! :) You make all of us on the "other side" feel better. Looks like you'll all be our Big Sisters as we venture this awesome journey! Thanks for looking out for us. . . as we all look up to you:) :)
