Los Angeles County College of Nursing - Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the Spring 2020 Basic (Generic) program. The school website posted dates for an information session for prospective students. I'll be attending May 31, 2019, and wanted to see if anyone else is going to the same day or any of the other ones?

Application window opens June 15th for Spring 2020. I hope this thread will help answer admission/application questions and get connected with other applicants or those who are currently in the program.

As of 8:00 a.m. today the application portal is down.

My transcripts were supposed to be processed today! Hopefully, it's just a minor issue and will be easily fixed. If anyone knows what is going on with the portal please share.

Has anyone had their application status fully complete (TEAS scores, transcripts) on the application portal? My document tracking still says transcripts required. I understand the school is processing hundreds of applicants, but I like to believe I was one of the first hundred to submit my transcripts early.

Hey @mchlstvn, has your application status fully completed with your transcripts? I am on the same boat as you (sent all my transcripts the first week), and I am still waiting for one transcript to be completed. Hope your TEAS went well today. ?

@rjv Just checked and as of right now my application is complete. All four of transcripts including my TEAS score have been received. There was a mix up with my application and transcripts, so I am glad that I called the school to check what was the hold-up. I recently got married and I changed my last name to my wives which I used on my application; however, on my transcripts from all the schools I attended had my previous last name. I just had to tell the school I'm the same person. It was my bad on the whole thing.

My TEAS didn't go as well as I hoped it would. I got 72.7% which means I don't get the 20 points towards my application. My chance of getting accepted now depends if I get invited and how well I do on the interview. I really need those 5 points from the interview. Does anyone know what the interview consists of besides it being a times oral and written assessment?

My application is complete except for sending in my teas score. However, I was accepted to another program for this upcoming fall semester so I’m not going to continue with the process at LA CONAH. Best of luck to all of you!

My application is complete as well! I ended up getting a 87.3% on the teas so that will put me at 84 points. From what I've read, the interview is more of a group setting rather than a one on one interview. I believe they observe your communication/problem solving skills/participation etc in the groups they assign you in and they either give you the 5 points or 0 points.

My application is officially complete! We should be expecting an invite to interview sometime in September right?

@Bosoxgirl3358 Congrats on getting into a program! Thanks for posting on here. Good luck with you!

@Terri Yim Great job on the TEAS!! You killed it! I need to get better at test taking. The group interview format seems like it could be fun, I believe I work well in groups and teams. I just might have a chance at this. haha.

thanks!! im not too good at interviews though haha so we shall see.. seems everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. hopefully we will make it through the interview successfully and will be in a competitive position for a spot!

Hey all! I applied for spring 2020 as well. Now we wait! I have about 83-84 points so I hope that's enough!

Hey @makv16 welcome to the Spring 2020 hopefuls! haha. I believe I have 83 points, and putting all my bets on that interview. Have you applied to any other programs?

I didn't pass the teas the first time and I did the second time so that put my score low. I believe that even with the interview and everything I only score at 76 -_- I had a friend that just recently graduated there she told me to apply anyways. I just gotta wait and see what happens. I just don't know when people will get their invite for an interview

It looks like your GPA might be effecting your points. I agree with your friend, you should to just apply, at least the application is free. It's probably too late to retake some classes for the Spring2020 cohort. But hopefully you won't need to and get accepted this application cycle.

I heard the interview invites are around 4 weeks prior to the acceptance notifications. So we should be expecting an invite last week of August, or the first week of September.
