Los Angeles County College of Nursing - Spring 2020

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the Spring 2020 Basic (Generic) program. The school website posted dates for an information session for prospective students. I'll be attending May 31, 2019, and wanted to see if anyone else is going to the same day or any of the other ones?

Application window opens June 15th for Spring 2020. I hope this thread will help answer admission/application questions and get connected with other applicants or those who are currently in the program.

I left a voicemail with hr to schedule my appointment but haven’t received a call back yet. What about you?

I have not received any email about the live scan appointment. I submitted my online application but haven't heard back since. Did anyone get a confirmation email or any update at all?

How did you know to contact HR to schedule an appointment? I wasn't aware we had to do that. When did you call HR?

@Terri Yim Same here. So far all that I have done was submit my application online but havent gotten anything, no email or call.

I received an email on Thursday from ----------- that my form was approved and to call hr for an appointment

I called last week and my appointment is this Thursday at 9:30. It was simple. When you app gets confirmed ---------------- sends you there direct number.

@Nabeyta Okay thanks. I haven't received that email yet. I'm assuming it'll be a case by case bases for approval for live scan.

Nice! I hope to get approved sometime this week. Did the email mention anything about health clearance (immunizations, physicals, TB test, Flu shots)?

No. The women that answered me said that office is next door and I can submit the documents there. She couldn’t tell me much more because “it’s not her department”. She was nice enough though.

I also received the email about live scan appointment last week. I kept calling the HR dpt to set up the appointment, but have not received anyone yet.

For health clearance, did we have form to get filled out? It states in website that way, and I got a little confused..

Does anyone know exactly what the health clearance entails? Flu TB physical?.... anything else?

I got my email this morning and was able to book my live scan. I was worried there for a bit.

@Gabriela Santos I am assuming its everything you mentioned and possible immunization records (hepatitis titers)

It’s a fingerprint scan and then you go try on a mask to see what size mask you are and check if you are claustrophobic...bring your immunization record they will check to see what you need and what you already have done...they will also check to see if you are really immune to chicken pox and hepatitis...they will draw blood...if you have been cleared of immunizations then you will be checked for TB and given a flu shot...I’m waiting to get my clearance back...I was there for about 3 hours
