Hello I am applying to LAC Allied School of Nursing for the Fall 2013 semester ADN program. I was wondering if any body else is applying to this school for the fall 2013 semester or if there is anybody that currently attends or has attended this school that has any advice or opinions about this school. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advanced.
Clinicals were great. There I felt that I really got to apply all the skills they taught us. I got to hang IV fluids I did dressing changes, I did IV IM SQ injections, I also administered many different meds, and saw all sorts of trauma and medical dx. My instructor was great and really helped me too. County is an educational hospital so the staff is willing to help you learn as well.[/quote']Wow that's awesome! Are you happy with choosing CONAH?

Hi guys! I'm new here on AN but I have a question to all of you, I want to apply to a nursing program in any of the schools here in So Cal, preferably community college. I have my pre-requisites done, though my GPA in my core classes is not high at all. I checked the cut score for some of these colleges and I found out that my GPA did not make the cut. However, I don't want to lose hope (though sometimes, I feel like giving up already). I've been reading some of the posts here saying that some of the schools here are based on lottery system (this gives me hope a little bit).
I just want to know from you guys, when you finished all your pre-requisites did you just apply to the schools of your choice and just hoped for the best? Also, when do you have to take the TEAS? Do you take it prior to sending your applications or do you wait for them to give you some kind of invitation letters before taking it? and what happens next after this step? Is this when you wait for your acceptance/rejection letter?
Thank you so much guys! Any answer would be highly appreciate! (I'm sorry if this is very long) I'm so stressed out right now because I don't know what I would do if I don't get into nursing program.

Most of community colleges here have the lottery system, but you still have to fulfill the minimum requirements, which is usually 2.5 gpa and around 62 % on your teas (it varies from school to school). You first apply, submit your application and official transcripts, and if you fulfill their minimum requirements they invite you for the teas. If you pass the teas, then you go into the lottery with all the others who passed that minimum cut score. Some of the colleges that have that lottery system are LACC, LAVC, PCC, GCC, ELAC and many other (here in LA) I don't know about San Francisco or other places as I live in LA. After your TEAS, if you passed, you are in for the lottery, and then you wait for an answer. You can apply to many schools, but you take the TEAS with only one school, you can choose where to take it, and then you just send the results to other schools. And that's it :-). Don't lose hope. You can get in with these lottery system schools.

Thank you so much! This really helps me understand the process. I haven't had the chance to talk to a school councilor so all I can do right now is wonder but your reply is just so informative!! I'm from LA so I find this really helpful. :) Thanks again!
I received a letter inviting me to test based on my science scores. I have already taken my TEAS so I am just going to have ATI forward my scores to them. This school seems very organized so far.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you do on your teas? I am not scheduled to take mine for a bit and I'm stressed because I wish I could take it sooner rather than trying not to think about it. Best of luck to you!!!
Congrats on that score!!!! Good luck to you! I wish I could take mine sooner, but the dates they have available conflict with my work schedule. If I get accepted, I won't mind putting work aside but until then, work is a priority so I was only able to schedule a much later date! Is County your first choice? What other schools did you apply to?
