Want to get into LVN program but with medical condition
Hi guys! I'm here again. I want to get into LPN program but I have a problem with my knee and leg. I have a clogged artery on my left leg and ligament problem as well. I can't walk or stand for a long time, I can only walk for 10 mins and after that my calf will start hurting, it will only go away if I take a rest for a minute or two. Like I said, I want to get into LPN program but I wonder what their day is like especially when it comes to clinical. I don't worry much about the theory because you only sit most of the time. What I worry the most is during clinical and the actual job, as I know it requires a lot of movements. I have a CNA certificate but I haven't used it since the doctor didn't give me any clearance to work. I only took the class because I wanted to do something instead of just being stuck at home. However, I find it useless because I can't apply to any job as a CNA due to my disability. My original plan is to be an RN but I'm not sure if I can still be one due to this. However, I am open to any position (as long as it's medical field work related) that can work with my situation as well. Could you please tell me what does an LVN student or an actual LVN school/work is like? Any answer would be highly appreciated. Thank you guys!

Can I still apply with a very low GPA?
Thank you! I will talk to a councilor on Wed, I will ask them all my options. :)

Can I still apply with a very low GPA?
First of all, congratulations to you! :) I took my A&P during my freshman year so, just like you I was young and dumb back then but I learned my lesson though. Hopefully, it's not too late for me. I will have to attend an info session on Wed so that I can get as much info as I need.

Can I still apply with a very low GPA?
I would apply, unfortunately, I didn't meet the minimum requirements. I don't think they would even look at it.

That's why I feel so lost right now. And I'm not sure if I would want to go to a private school.

I am very stressed out right now and feel kinda lost. I want to apply to nursing program in one of the community colleges here in Los Angeles but I see that one of their requirements is to have a minimum gpa of 2.5 in your science classes (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology). Unfortunately, my gpa in these classes is less than 2.5. I have Cs in my combined A&P (I,II) and a B in micro. I can't retake anymore classes because I already took my A&P (I) twice and most schools only want you to repeat 1 class. I have completed all the pre-reqs for nursing (out of state) and my gpa is not that bad (3.1) but I know that this isn't very competitive compared to other applicants. I also know that I can start from the bottom...CNA>LVN>RN but this will require more time and money so I'm not really sure if I want to take this path. Is this the end of the road for me? (Going straight to ADN program)

Los Angeles County Allied School of Nursing
Thank you so much! This really helps me understand the process. I haven't had the chance to talk to a school councilor so all I can do right now is wonder but your reply is just so informative!! I'm from LA so I find this really helpful. :) Thanks again!

Los Angeles County Allied School of Nursing
Hi guys! I'm new here on AN but I have a question to all of you, I want to apply to a nursing program in any of the schools here in So Cal, preferably community college. I have my pre-requisites done, though my GPA in my core classes is not high at all. I checked the cut score for some of these colleges and I found out that my GPA did not make the cut. However, I don't want to lose hope (though sometimes, I feel like giving up already). I've been reading some of the posts here saying that some of the schools here are based on lottery system (this gives me hope a little bit). I just want to know from you guys, when you finished all your pre-requisites did you just apply to the schools of your choice and just hoped for the best? Also, when do you have to take the TEAS? Do you take it prior to sending your applications or do you wait for them to give you some kind of invitation letters before taking it? and what happens next after this step? Is this when you wait for your acceptance/rejection letter? Thank you so much guys! Any answer would be highly appreciate! (I'm sorry if this is very long) I'm so stressed out right now because I don't know what I would do if I don't get into nursing program.
