Los Angeles County Allied School of Nursing

Published

Hello I am applying to LAC Allied School of Nursing for the Fall 2013 semester ADN program. I was wondering if any body else is applying to this school for the fall 2013 semester or if there is anybody that currently attends or has attended this school that has any advice or opinions about this school. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

wow that is great new !!!! if you don't mind me asking how many points did you have ?

Congrats! Is that for the bridge program or generic ADN?

Hello. I'm also new to this thread and I wanted to share some news. I also got a mail from county today... and I've been accepted for Spring '14. I'm not exactly sure how many points I have in total. It was either 80 or 81 and my teas score was 75.3%. I thought county would be sending their letters in early December but maybe they decided to speed things up. I also applied to LACC and LAVC but I haven't heard from them yet. Anyone else get a letter from county??

Congratulations! Is that for the bridge program or generic adn?

I applied for the generic program

Anyone know how much tuition is? Also is financial aid available?

Here is a link to the fin aid/scholarship page

County of Los Angeles - Department of Health Services

For whatever reason, even in separate posts, both links go to the same page! But if you click on one of the links, open the page, go to the left and click on prospective student you will see a new set of links where you will find one for tuition and another for fin aid/scholarship opportunities.

Hello everyone!

Im new to this thread and I guess I just wanted to inform whoever applied for the Spring '14 pool that they are sending out the letters already! I got mine today and, fortunately, I GOT IN!

I actually wanted to go to LACC instead cos I wanted to go to a LACCD school cos I am eligible for the BOGFW which meant I wouldnt have to pay for tuition and they also had a bridge program which im not completely sure if its guaranteed that i get into CSULA after i get the rn license at the county or not?

But after reading about how great the clinicals are for LA County and how it will really prepare me for when I become a nurse, I decided to go to this school.

Well anyway, good luck to the rest of you and I hope you all make it! :D!

I currently go to LA County. LA county has a bridge program with CSULA, too. I didn't have to pay for the tuition because I receive pell grant/cal grant (sorry, I cannot remember which it was).

I applied to LA County for the generic ADN. I got a phone call today saying that I was placed on a waiting list but they have an opening spot for one of the clinicals I had chosen. Problem is.. I'm already an LVN and accepting this would mean starting from scratch (2yrs). I was also offered an admission w MSMC but this is the bridge program. The thing is attending LA County would be much cheaper. Any thoughts?

Why not apply to the LA County's LVN to RN bridge that starts Summer 2014?

I managed to finish semester 1 and I wanted to post a bit of feedback for those going into semester I and those who are planning to apply to LACSON. Semester 1 is not easy it requires a lot of work if you want to get a passing grade. A lot of people say getting an A in this school is impossible. It is not impossible but it does require a lot of studying. You will have two nursing care plans due throughout the semester. These care plans take many hours to finish (I took 20 hours to complete each of my care plans). You will also have patient worksheets due every week you take care of a patient. These worksheets take about 5 hours to complete once you get the hang of doing them. Class lectures are mainly PowerPoint style lectures. Each lecture is done by the nurse instructor that is most qualified to lecture about the subject. Test are based on your assigned readings and handouts although test questions are not always straightforward. If you think in terms of ADPIE you will do fine. You will also have a written essay due. All and all semester one is great and you will have a great time if you keep up with your studies.
