hello,
i have finished all of my pre-reqs and got my acceptance into nursing school ....yeah!!!
i am hoping to find someone that would like to mentor me thru some of the areas i may be
puzzled by, or even just give me some different ways of looking at things. i work very hard
on my studies and know that i will make it thru with flying colors...i refuse not to; however, i just
think it would be really neat and possibly even more educational to have someone who has been there/
done that and is willing to share insight....never answers, just insight. i also think that this
may be an opportunity to form some really neat friendships. lord knows i will have no real social
life to speak of for the next 2 years....
hope this peaks some interest, and that someone out there thinks, like me, that this would be
a neat idea.
thank you.

well I am in Florida, A nursing Student that have been through what you will go through, don't know much lol, but will be glad to help! you can pm me or e-mail whenever you want!
Wow! Thank you for such a fast reply!
I live in Michigan....have 2 children; one we just took to college a week ago...wow that was hard, and my other is 7 years old. Yes I know, I love
a challenge :) So, are you done with school and have your degree, or where are you exactly on your journey? I guess the first thing I would like to is this:
I hope I can explain it the way I think it....lol
When I took my pre-reqs, many times I would find myself half way thru a class and hit some ahh haa moment that could have saved me so much time and frustration if I had of reached it earlier.....Have you had any of these "ahh-ha" moments in nursing school? Maybe little lightbulbs that were a bit slow to go off?
Thanks for your willingness to correspond with me!
Dana
Yes Dana, We all have had those moments!!! LOL
Well as of now I am taking Mental Health, Advanced Adult Health, and Peds. Thank God I have passed all my classes, and have not failed any tests (knock on wood).
I am a full time student and work full time also!
but can spare a word/support to people!
Thank you...
You ARE busy....When you have some free time...(ha ha right) please share with me any of the ahh haa moments you think might prove to be helpful....whether it is in time management, or study techniques, etc....Just anything that you have said..."Man, I wish I had of know this "then".
Thanks...
well we can start by this

Wow!
I think it's great that you are willing to learn from others. It is so refreshing to see posts like this. You cannot BELIEVE some people out there who feel bad when they are ordered around and made to do things they are supposed to do. And this actually happened on my preceptorship.
I think you could learn from not just one, but many mentors! Ask your clinical instructor for advice, befriend senior nurses in the hospital, that kind of thing.
You are such an inspiration to other students. Good Luck!

These are some of the same things I am looking for. Not short cuts or quick fixes, just that knowing bit of advice that makes you wonder why you never thought of it before. This is part of why I spend so much time here. ;-)
