I really don't care about the cost. It is worth being happy and not stressed out as I call the "Baker experience." Plus, you can be done in 11 months.I have never been one to compete and I don't like the drama at BAKER. I care for people and the way I have seen these Baker students in action shows me that I wouldn't let them anywhere near me if I was in a hospital or my worst enemy(which I don't have one but if I did). They are in it because they want money. Not because they genuinely want to help and care for people. It is a job that is in demand and all they see is dollar bills. Pretty scary that is our future health care workers.
I never heard of Everest before the other day when my Gyno's Med Assistant told me she went there. Have you been there to speak with them yet?
Okay, I just have to respond to your post here, Heather, because I'm offended. In an earlier post, you say that students at Baker are mean or whatever and there is drama, etc., especially the older ones. Well, I'm an older female student at Baker, and I'm offended that you would generalize that the older women students are mean or whatever. I've been at Baker for 2 years, but decided to change my major to nursing last fall. I did not want to go through the competition process initially, either, because I was 40, but I could never been accepted if I didn't try, so I tried, and I will now be starting the LPN program in September. I worked my butt off to get A's, and I worked hard to do well on the HESI. In the process, I wasn't mean to anyone, I did my best to be helpful to any student who needed help or asked questions, etc. Four (that I know of) other students who were in pre-reqs with me were also accepted - all older, 1 male, and none of them mean or nasty. Anyhow, I'm sorry about your experience with Baker and/or Baker students, but it is certainly not fair or reasonable to make such generalizations about all students. If you have a gripe with a few or what have you, then it is your perogative to call them out, but not all just because they go to Baker. Regardless, like I do with all who are pursuing entrance into any nursing program or with school in general, best of luck to you. I hope you find a program that you like, with students who are not nasty.
Mia'smom, the compass is pretty much what the hand out is. I wouldn't worry about the PSB, it has a lot of what if scenerio questions in it. As far as Baker I wasted a year and a half there and was lied to like many other students there. There is a small white book called "The Net Study Guide" that I highly recomend to study from. Its around $30.00. If you can pass all the math in that book you are good to go for the compass test. It also shows you step by step formulas as well. I didn't have to wait, I got in for the next group that was about to start. I started in May of this year. I was nervous too. When you get the interview, my opinion is you are good to go at that point. Good luck to you!
I was actually a baker student who did get ALL A's and i got a perfect score on my NET test as well, but i still did not get in, due to the way the point system works, and people who didnt have the grades or test score were getting in ahead of me bc they have reapplied so many times they extra bonus points to put them ahead of me... i mean some of the people who got in have not been in school for 3 years!!! they just kept on reapplying and getting more points for doing so!!! how rediculous! although now i am in the LPN porgram and St. Clair County Community College and will be doing the LPN to RN there as well next fall!! i love it and im glad it happened this way, bc i wouldnt want to have graduated from such a sketchy type of school like Baker!

I am taking the compass test at Everest next sat the 22nd. I am praying to get into to the LPN program. I was wondering if you have any advice??? Was it hard to get in? Was the compass the same type questions as the handout they gave as a study guide? Did you have to wait to get in? I am so nervous!!!! I have been studying, my husband is an engineer so he's helping me on the math but I know I need to score high b-cuz of all of the competition. I went to one of the info seminars and was baffled at some of the ppl there! As soon as Ms. Howard mentioned the background check they started with the what-if questions, I couldn't believe it.
I have a cousin that goes to baker and she can't get in th RN program so I was advised to stay away from baker.
My aunt works at DMC and Childrens hospitals and she actually found Everest for me. I was taking pre-reqs at Macomb and I felt like I was wasting time. I am 30 yrs old, have a daughter and I dont have time to be on waiting lists.
