I am applying to a couple of different BSN programs for classes starting in the spring. I graduated about a year ago with a Bachelor's as a pre-med student and have since decided to pursue a career in nursing, obviously. I am trying to complete my remaining pre-requisites this summer and fall, as many of them were not required for the pre-med track.
The main problem that I am having is that I have taken a Human Physiology course with lab, but have not taken a Human Anatomy course. The advisors at the schools I am looking at have told them that I will either need to take a separate Human Anatomy course with lab or take A&P I and II. Obviously I would rather take one course rather than two, but separate anatomy and physiology courses are much harder to find.
Does anyone know of a Human Anatomy course with lab that is online and that is being offered later this summer or in the fall? I am in Texas, and in-state would be preferred, but not required.
Thanks!

Hey there, I don't have much to offer besides the fact that I live in Georgia and a lot of nursing schools here will not accept online science courses and labs. I'm not sure if this is common practice, but I advise making sure any schools you are interested in accept those types of classes before signing up! As far as locating a course goes, perhaps the Texas nursing board will be more helpful? Texas State Nursing Programs

Hi. I am in the same boat as you. Graduated with a B.S. for the premed track and decided to switch to nursing. I'll complete my remaining prereqs this fall. I haven't seen any Anatomy classes with labs online, but I haven't looked either..I am doing my prereqs online through Georgia military college (you do not need to be military affiliated)..it is anatomy I & II with labs. The nice thing about the school is the classes are only two months and the tuition is the same regardless of whether you're in state or not. They're regionally accredited. Like another person said, make sure your nursing program accepts online coursework, including labs, because many do not.

Shame on you for attempting to take a lab class online. The entire point of a lab class is to have you do something in person - which you'll have to do throughout your nursing career, should you get that far.

The community college I did my pre req's at offers an online a&p with lab, you order a cat in the mail and dissect it at home. I personally don't learn that well in that environment, but the classes are out there if you look for them.

Yes, a cat. I did the same. Although, I did poorly and got a C that term and took the course over again on campus. On campus we had a human cadaver lab.

I took A&P I and A&P II with labs online through Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN. We ordered our lab kits through escience and labs included dissection of a sheep heart, dissection of a fetal pig, blood typing, etc. (Make sure you keep both in a cool dry place to extend their life.) I had ---------- as an instructor and would recommend her without hesitation. You will have to work to earn your grade, but she is AWESOME about answering questions and working to make sure you understand how the systems of the body work with each other. Good luck!

Try Western Texas College in Snyder, Tx. I just finished A&P 1. It has alot of busy work but I passed. Labs online also.

The Dallas County Community College does Human Anatomy and Physiology online. I believe they mail you a lab kit. I am enrolled for A&P1 in the Summer 2 session at North Lake College (part of the Dallas County system).

I'm basically new All Nursing and was looking for Texas based students and found this post! I am taking A&P 1 & 2 this summer, and while the college I'm at offers and online A&P class, they do not let just anyone take them (from what I can tell). Also has the VA lady that was helping me, tell me that they didn't let just anyone take even the summer A&P courses due to the amount of info crammed into such a short time. I took it when I was in the USAF in 99' so most is refresher (forgot a lot though lol) so I didn't have a problem doing the SUM classes. I would be awful as an online student lol...too easily distracted. I just can't see lab being appropriate at home, but that's just me :)

Check out edukan! I took both A & P I & II online! Did dissections, labs, and it was fully transferable to my local CC! Seriously, I was in the exact same situation! They start often and you can probably get right in.
