Got a B in A&P 1, but might get a C in A&P 2...
I would say to look at the requirements for the programs you are applying to. In my area the community college ADN programs look at your TEAS score first, they take the top candidates based on score alone. If there are ties then they look at what you took and passed, as long as you got a "C" it doesn't matter. All that said, if you didn't master the material I would consider retaking it for that reason alone. If you are comfortable with what you learned and the grade isn't an issue to the programs you are applying, then I wouldn't.

Almost done, but still frustrated
I'm sorry you feel like the loner. I don't really have any advice, persevere you are almost at the finish line and then hopefully onto employment to ease your financial worries! Good luck.

Do you have friends going towards nursing too?
I'm kind of LOL'ing in my head about this thread! I have met several nursing student hopefuls along my journey towards nursing school. I have been taking pre req's/co req's for the last 2 years in preparation of applying to many programs in my area. I can definitely tell you who will make it and who won't (at least not while their priorities are what they are). The good news is I got into both programs I applied the first time and I start this fall.

Pre-Nursing student wondering what semester you should take the Teas V?
I waited until I was almost ready to start applying, i had finished A&P 1/2 and was halfway through micro when I took it, I scored 86.7 the first time and In my area that was good enough to get in, so I didn't re-take it. But I had about 6 weeks to study and re-take if I needed before my applications were due.

Pre nursing or cna?
I'm in NC, I'm not sure how different it is there.... I took my college classes and last fall arranged my classes so I could take the CNA course, which was a requirement to all of my local community colleges. I think the CNA class I took was a three week class, 2 weeks in lecture/skills and a week of clinicals. I'm glad I took the CNA class to give me taste of what I'm getting myself into! If I need to work during school or breaks I can fall back on it.

Pre-requisties may take 4 semesters, maybe longer?
I only took 1 class (English 111) my first semester, I waited too late to sign up for anything and I wanted to ease back into school. I went full time my second semester, but didn't take any sciences. My 3rd semester i took both my A&P classes, math, and developmental psych. My 4th semester I took micro, finished up my remedial math (to get me to college level algebra, that I needed for my program) and took my CNA, so not full time this semester. My 5th semester I took my math, chem, sociology, and a humanities class. So it took me a total of 5 semesters, but only three of them were full-time. I could have finished all of mine in 4, 3 if I had really wanted to push it. The good news is that when I bridge from an RN to a BSN, I will only need a stats class and a couple liberal arts classes, everything else is done.

to all the moms....
I don't start nursing school until August, but for the past year while I've taken all my pre req's it's only been doable only because my husband is very supportive, and works really early, so he gets home early. We have three children, 7,6, and 3. Along with a supportive husband I have a few girlfriends who have been amazing and kept my kids when my husband couldn't. Bottom line, I couldn't have done it without an amazing support system.

Semester sound too crazy?
I took a&p 1 and 2 short session last summer with math and developmental psych and did well. There were people in my class taking the a&p and then adding micro for the second short session! Add in med term and I thought they were crazy, but they did it and did well. It can definitely be done. Good luck.

Looking for Human Anatomy w/Lab Online
The community college I did my pre req's at offers an online a&p with lab, you order a cat in the mail and dissect it at home. I personally don't learn that well in that environment, but the classes are out there if you look for them.

Mercy School of Nursing Charlotte, NC Evening Program Information?
I was just accepted and start at Mercy School of Nursing in the fall. They use a point system to choose applicants. The grade point average is fine, but you won't get as many points for a 3.1 as you would a 3.5+, do you have a previous degree? Did you take the SAT/ACT? Have you taken the TEAS yet? It will all depend on how many points you can accumulate and the points of those applying when you do. I was told I would need about 8 points to be competitive, I had almost 9 and got in. I don't remember the exact breakdown, but my GPA is 3.7,I had an A in AP1 and you get 1 point for that, I scored In the 99th percentile in all categories on the TEAS, I really think my TEAS score is what clinched it for me, but having a previous degree gives you about 2 points, I think, so if you did have a previous degree and only an average TEAS, you could still get in. CPCC only looks at TEAS scores, if you take it and score about 80 you shouldn't have a problem getting in there, but they don't have a nights/weekends program, that I know of.

Is it right to pursue nursing if the school is 2 hrs away from husband & kids?
I would go, in a hot minute. It's important to live your life without resentment and regret. For me that translates into regretting the things I did not do. Look, if your marriage is strong enough, it will survive, if not, then you might be glad you went ahead and did this now. You have a support system in place, which would be the most important obstacle in my mind. Good luck!

A&P1, how many hours a week in class?
I took a&p 1 & 2 last summer, so they were 4 weeks each and it was 24 hours per week for both lecture and lab.
-
How many ADN programs are you applying to for Fall 2013?
I applied to two. I was a chemistry short for applying to more. I took chem this semester so that if I didn't get in I would be able to apply next semester to more places. I got in both places I applied, and went with my first choice school.

Charlotte area...Mercy school of Nursing vs. CPCC...
I have been accepted to both, help me decide! There are pros and cons to each, but what I think it's comes down to for me is getting a job when I'm fished with school. Does anyone here have any idea on which will be better in terms of actually getting a job post graduation?
