Longest summer... Ever!

Does anyone else feel this way? I'm starting nursing school in the fall and I'm so excited! The thing is... All this excitement is making my summer creep by. Summer has barely started and it seems like its been forever. I really think this is going to be the longest summer of my life. Anyone else feel like this? I figured I'd start the topic, hoping to find others, so we can entertain each other while summer creeps along haha.

Summer hasn't even started yet :)

Take it from someone who hasn't had a real summer in the 6 years since graduating from nursing school... ENJOY every minute of your freedom. I miss the days when summer meant a break from everything.

For me, it's creeping and flying at the same time. Creeping, because I really want to get started in the program. At the same time, it's flying because I have so much to get done before I start.

I'm going to try very hard to take advantage of my summer off and enjoy my family while I can.

First, CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance to nursing school!

If I were you I would be thankful that your summer is going by so slowly. Enjoy it!!! It could be a very long time before you can enjoy a summer as care free as this one. If you really are anxious to get started then I recommend downloading your syllabus as soon as it's available and ordering your textbooks ASAP. It can never hurt to get a jump on the assigned reading and study material.

Unfortunately I have to take a 7 week chemistry during the summer :/ but I do get 1 full month off before schools starts. Anyways, I have been reading Mosby's Tour Guide to Nursing School by Melodie Chenevert. It is really informative & has a chapter for those who are changing careers or starting nursing school later in life, so it is not just for traditional students to read. I have even highlighted excerpts to reread the week before I start my BSN program this August.

I have to take an 8 week a&p 2 class this summer but I plan on enjoying this summer as much as I can because I start an accelerated program this fall which will probably leave me with not much of a life at all.

I'm right there with ya! Over the Summer I plan on buying the ATI study guide and studying for the TEAS.

Enjoy it! I wish I had a summer:)

Enjoy it because you will be begging for it later

Oh yes, try as hard as you possibly can to enjoy your friends, families and free time. Because it's so horrible. ;)

I fear reality will be a harsh teacher.

I should have been graduating in December but unfortunately I failed my last semester to I will have to repeat Med Surg 2 in the Fall and graduating in May instead. This summer has lost some luster of excitement and now I'm just eager for it to be over so I can finally get to my last semester..

Yeah... I wish this was the longest summer ever for me. I wish summer was any different than fall, winter or spring. Reading this thread made me realize that once you're an adult, summer is basically just a warmer winter. And in some ways, it's worse to go to work in gorgeous weather than it is to go in when it's terrible out.

Way too true. The bellyaching on this thread is making me nauseous. "I have to enjoy my summer! I can't go to school yet!" Well, life's not fair, is it.

When you get to take that coveted bottle, you just may find the milk is a liiiiittle spoiled...
