After couple days from working the head of the department asked him to cut it .. coz it didn't look professional .. And so he did. Yea i guess it does matter.. to give people a good impression .

He is one of the most professional, intelligent, and resourceful nurses I know. IMHO, If where you want to work has issues with long hair that is pulled back neatly (as expected for females as well), then perhaps you may want to reconsider working there.

Anyway; it really depends on what part of the country you're in. Where I am no one bats an eye and plenty of male docs and nurses have long hair. They wear it behind when at work.I do know that facial hair is not big here. I don't know why; perhaps because it's the tropics.Me, I like long hair on a man.

Nov 14, 2010 As long as one is neatly groomed, it should not matter, but it is understandable if an employer is (more importantly, human resources) has issues with this. Double check employer dress code as this is something to consider. I understand others who may have the idea that you may want to consider working somewhere else, but in all actuality employers do give equal opportunity, if you work on their standards. Good luck...

Some faith-based hospital systems have all kinds of rules, even about how many piercings one has in their earlobes (I am talking...not more than one). Others allow tongue rings. Different everywhere.

I use Gel ( Yes lady's i do) to comb my hair back then i put it in a pony tail. These are my thoughts use them as you wish......
