Well. , i remember once there was a new surgeon , he was having a long hair kinda to his shoulder.. After couple days from working the head of the department asked him to cut it .. coz it didn't look professional .. And so he did.
Yea i guess it does matter.. to give people a good impression .
What's more important to you? Hair or job? I work with a guy who has long hair. He is one of the most professional, intelligent, and resourceful nurses I know. IMHO, If where you want to work has issues with long hair that is pulled back neatly (as expected for females as well), then perhaps you may want to reconsider working there.
People are still uptight about hair length! That's ridiculous. Anyway; it really depends on what part of the country you're in. Where I am no one bats an eye and plenty of male docs and nurses have long hair. They wear it behind when at work.
I do know that facial hair is not big here. I don't know why; perhaps because it's the tropics.
Me, I like long hair on a man.
As long as one is neatly groomed, it should not matter, but it is understandable if an employer is (more importantly, human resources) has issues with this. Double check employer dress code as this is something to consider. I understand others who may have the idea that you may want to consider working somewhere else, but in all actuality employers do give equal opportunity, if you work on their standards. Good luck...
