Just out of curiosity. How many semesters do you attend clinicals? I will be starting the program in the fall of this year. I am in the ADN program. Thanks!

It will depend on your program, but in my ADN program we have clinicals for every class except pharm... so as many semesters as you're in school, you have clinicals.
I suggest you REALLY look into what is required in your program, because it sounds like you don't have a solid grasp of the program you're about to start.

Depends on the school. Most states mandate a minimum number of hours students must spend in clinical. However schools vary in how they meet these requirements. My school has clinicals all 4 semesters.
just found out we will graduate in 2012 December. I have done clinicals before but it has been 20 years ago. I had to quit 3 weeks before graduation because my son was born months early =( So here i go again many many years later!! lol

As PP mentioned, each program is different. But from what I hear ADN programs do have more clinical hours than BSN programs; just a bit of trivia for ya In my program we had clinicals every semester. What changed as we went up in levels was the amount of time spent at clinical. First semester we had clinical once a week for about 6 hours, by fourth semester we were at clinical twice a week for 8 hours each day.

We have them starting one month into the program, all four semesters. We did 6:30 am to 2 pm once a week the first semester, then 6:30 am to 4 pm two or three days a week (and, memorably several 12-hour shifts) the second semester, and we'll probably keep that same 2-3 days a week, ten hours a day, for the rest of the program.

we have them for each semester as well. first two semesters are 0645-1515 2 days a week. next two semesters are 0645-1715 twice a week , and the last semester is preceptorship and we get a preceptor and follow his/her schedule for 7 weeks.

My program is 3 years and we have them every semester, so that would be 6. We start them 3 weeks into the program.

I'll be in a BSN program and will have 5 semesters - the entire length of the program. 6.5 hrs a week clinicals + 3 hrs sim lab per week first semester. It increases with each term. The last term we have a preceptorship of 120 hours I think - maybe 150 - I can't remember.
