Hey all,
I haven't seen a forum for the LBCC Fall 2021 ADN cohort yet, so I decided to create one! I understand it's an extremely competitive lottery system, but I thought we can use this forum to ask questions, share stats, and/or talk about the application process.
According to past selections, there are usually 500-1500 applicants and only around 40 are given a spot. 20 people will be listed as alternates.
I will be applying with:
Life Sciences GPA: 4.0
English & Math GPA: 4.0
Overall GPA (I'm not sure if they look at this but..): 3.91
I took the TEAS twice (for other schools), but for my first try, I scored 81.3.
Good luck to everyone applying! Feel free to comment anything below.

I might've forgotten from the info session, but is it really just a lottery based on GPA? If so, I'm surprised they don't put everyone's names into 3 GPA hats and pick out the required number of names, or use a random number generator. Then, if someone's transcript GPA doesn't closely match their stated application GPA, they could always choose another name. It'd be much faster to check 60 students' transcript GPAs (40 + 20 alternates) vs checking 1,200 or more (all applicants)...

Oof 1200 ? Does anyone know why LBCC receives so many apps? A lot of LA suburb area (SGV) schools receive around 300-500 applicants and it’s such a huge difference

A lot has to do with the fact that many schools have closed their fall 2021 apps due to the pandemic and how hospitals are limiting clinical spots. So a lot of students are applying to whatever school is accepting applications
