Lonestar Fall 2013 hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for the Fall 2013 Lonestar College basic track ADN program. LSC-Montgomery is my first choice, followed by LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.

I applied with an 11.81. Has anyone else out there applied, or are you preparing to apply?

Looking forward to starting a supportive and informative Lonestar thread, as applicants have the past few years

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I thought 2 hrs a night seemed on the low side, but then I looked at my schedule and it seems very reasonable. I guess I was under the impression that nursing school would involve hours and hours of lecture most days of the week. Thanks for all the tips because I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row and come up with a good survival plan to get me through. I will get a big calendar I have read some of the recommended book (test taking success for nursing students- I think it's called) and it suggest to keep a calendar and check it so that you aren't wasting time worrying about what you have to do and if you have forgotten a deadline. Thanks for the info about the math, I did not know about that, though it makes sense. :)

No, you will have lecture one day, lecture and lab another, and then, of course, your clinical day. You will also have a group project each semester, along with 4 sim labs during the year. Also, PowerPoints are the rule of the day, so make sure you stock up on ink and paper! ;)

Did you have to wear bathing suits for bed baths skill practice? Or did you use dummies/mannequin?

At NH they front load all the labs, so for the first 3 weeks you go from 8-4 or 8-5, or something like that. Then, after that they told us that we won't always have lab on what would be our scheduled lab days. I think I am just going to stay after class to do homework and study work instead of going home and getting sidetracked.:bookworm:

Huh. That's very interesting. I guess every campus does things their own way. Not that that surprises me! ;)

I was curious when have lab do we wear our clinical scrubs or does it matter what we where to lab?

NH students where did you all get your BP cuff from? Did you go on campus? I have a stethoscope already, but I need the cuff.

You can wear regular scrubs or clinical scrubs, just don't appear in street clothes! ;)

I wore a tank top and shorts. You will be with 1 partner and you can close the curtain around the bed so no one can see you. It's not as bad as it sounds! I don't think anyone wore a swimsuit ;)

That sounds better! Thanks Kevann00.

Just wanted to make sure that we are supposed to have our patches put on the LEFT shoulder. Thanks!

Yup, on the left.

ok, thanks for the info!
