Lonestar Fall 2013 hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for the Fall 2013 Lonestar College basic track ADN program. LSC-Montgomery is my first choice, followed by LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball.

I applied with an 11.81. Has anyone else out there applied, or are you preparing to apply?

Looking forward to starting a supportive and informative Lonestar thread, as applicants have the past few years

I just spoke with a LSC nursing student going into her 2nd year and she mentioned that on the first day of the program they were given a pre-test on dosage calculations. I just finished my Pharm class on line and we did not go over any dosage calculations, however we were required to get the book. I thought it was odd that we never went over it?? So should I be studying up on dosage calculations before the 26th? It sounds like I should already be prepared to know it. I will be attending NH, she went to Tomball. Anyone???

Also, I was wondering if NH nursing students have a Facebook page for fall start.

ok, thanks for the info!

Welcome! :)

Does anyone know what is the board of nurse examiners nursing practice act by the Texas board of nursing that's on the txt book list for NH? Thanks

I was also looking for the book. I did see a 118 page "manual" off of the state board website..im wondering if thats what it is referring too. Just wants us to read over it? The most current version is 2009.

Yes, you should be able to download a copy of the NPA off of the BON website. :)

I have a friend that is going into his second year at NH and I asked him about the day 1 pop quiz and he said he doesn't remember doing anything like that. Just in case I have been reading over some dosage calculations and getting my basic conversions down! Can't wait until school starts!!

Yes, I strongly encourage you to practice dosage calculations. The beginning is just simple math and conversions such as mg, ml, etc.

Who told you that you needed a cuff? I just finished second semester and was never required to use a cuff. In fact, we didn't practice bps and they are available at the hospital during clinical...(Is this a new requirement)?
