Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Good luck to all applying:)

LOLOLOL the micro biology fairy?! What campus are you taking micro at?

That's about the only thing that will help me by tomorrow besides this cup of coffee;)

I'm taking it at NH. Oh and welcome aboard!

We're all playing the waiting game here unfortunately, but we'll all know pretty soon and at least we are half way through(or more) this damn waiting game.

i took microbio at sam houston state when i was in pre-med and it was hella fun but i made a C. concerning its credit, it was not meant for nursing so it didn't count as a transfer credit into any nursing program and i had taken microbio again at lonestar kingwood. i was for sure that i had made an A as i had been making A's on every test across the line, but the final screwed me over :( for major scores you'd see 90 90 92 92 and then my final i made an 82 - i ended up with an 89. dont ya just hate that

good luck with microbio and i hope you finish out the semester well. march 22, any moment now...

oh and stayfocus. my condolences and prayers go out to you and your fam.

I loved the micro lectures but I hated sudying for the exams. The notes did not help a whole lot for me. I passed with an A. I tried drawing everything out (in detail). While I was drawing and coloring, I went over the disease it caused or any other relevant info. and wrote it down next to the drawing. It is time consuming but it helped me get through the class. I did the same for a&p labs and did well in them too. The lady in the nursing dept. told me that you will really need to do well in the micro and A&p class to not struggle in nursing. I am just hoping I remember most of it by the time I am in the program. Miss butterfly, I think my mail person will definitly be thinking I am stalking by the end of next week. I am so excited. For now I am trying to do well in my statistics class. I have a 100 in the first 2 exams so far. Hopefully I can continue the trend.

Thank you :) Micro is a hard class but the instructor can make or break your semester for sure. I loved my micro teacher (at Cy-Fair) thank God!! I heard so many horror stories I was scared to take the class. I think you came into our pharm class to take the first test right? At NH with Cinquemani?

Good luck with your test today!

I was scared to take the hesi because it had been a summer and a semester since I had taken any A&P class. I used my 10 yr olds anatomy book and a med terminology book to refresh. AHAHA...his book had really cool pop outs:yeah: I wish I had read those books before I took A&P. It was complex yet simple. Statistics huh? Yuk! Have you taken pharm yet?

That sucks!! If I was a professor I would have bumped it up to a 90. An 89?

I saw you all talking about the Pharm class -prof Cinqueri- or whatever---- I am trying to take it this summer but i work full time during the day ... did any of you take the hybrid with her???? If so, how much in person time is actually required or is it just the orientation that you have to go to and every thing else is online?

Well I had to drop her class last semester right before school started because it was supposed to be only online but it wasn't. I think it met four Fridays all day or something like. The one I am in now with her if every Thursday from 10-2. Maybe the hybrid is just to meet for the tests?

I did take pharm last semester. I got a B. I guess I should be happy since I didn't study much. My teacher allowed us to have two cheat sheets front and back worth of notes. It was still pretty hard since there is so much to read and know.

Yeah that was me!! I wish I knew who you were, but hello anyway. Yes Micro was too much for me along with Pharm this semester, but I am registered for one of her sumer one classes. I emailed and asked her(cinquemani) which one was the meeting class and NOT the hybrid one and it's the Mon/Wed class. I enjoyed it and I look forward to it being my only class for 6 weeks:) :)

How is going for you? She is not the best proff. in the world but she is an ADN instructor so I feel most of her inside info is pretty good. Did you choose NH as one of your campuses?

I enrolled in the summer hybrid class o m/w with her... I was curious how much meeting time there actually was on campus.... nice to know she has some inside info to share. :-) did any of you all have a problem enrolling in the class when you signed up... when I signed up via myLonestar it shows the class in my class schedule and says I am enrolled however there is o payment showing ... I know that when I was enrolling there was a permission number... do any of you know if there is something special I am supposed to do to make sure I am in the class ... I have been calling the campus and always get the darn message/voicemail.... I should probably go down there.... I also tried to sign up for the online class this summer at Kingwood with Nicki Loftin---- same thing --- I have it on my schedule but I go to pay and there is nothing showing due.... UGH!!! darn system

I think I talked with you about your daughter. I actually like her b/c she is straight up and hates dumb questions but ya she can be a little harsh. She knows her stuff and I like she is testing us over the math we will have the first year of nursing b/c some people fail out of nursing for failing math tests so it kinda prepares us for what is to come. I do not think she is as difficult as I expected...just gotta learn the meds and how to use drug guide and its ok....and DEFINITELY do the review.

I don't blame you...micro and pharm together  that's rough
