I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?
Good luck to all applying:)
I think I talked with you about your daughter. I actually like her b/c she is straight up and hates dumb questions but ya she can be a little harsh. She knows her stuff and I like she is testing us over the math we will have the first year of nursing b/c some people fail out of nursing for failing math tests so it kinda prepares us for what is to come. I do not think she is as difficult as I expected...just gotta learn the meds and how to use drug guide and its ok....and DEFINITELY do the review.I don't blame you...micro and pharm together
that's rough
Yeah I agree she is very informative and I didn't think the 1st test was too difficult. I really enjoyed the material since it relates directly to nursing practices, so I am looking forward to taking it again this summer. I also agree about the math. I can't believe anyone would teach the class without it. How can you learn medication dosing without the math?! I remember her saying in class that she took some students down to the Med center on Mondays and it made me look forward to the program even more:yeah:
For those wanting to know about Cy-Fair, know there program is completely different than all the other campuses. NH, as well as Mont. and Tomball are integrated program. Which means every semester you build one the knowledge and subject material you have already gone over, getting progressively more difficult and detailed. Cy-Fair is a block program. They cover a topic area in full and then move on. Im not saying either one is better than the other, just a general bit of info on the difference.
Also know that at NH, there is a summer program in which you can get you LVN if you wish to go to school through out summer break. This is especially good for giving you a chance to take the NCLEX LVN and get a bit of experience with the exam. You can also work your last year as a nurse if you wish. And you gain time management skills and ALOT of clinical experience. This is first offered to NH students and only 30 get in. Usually there is a waiting list for this, so other schools dont really have a chance to get in bc there just arnt any spots left over usually.
Another bonus to NH is the variety and options you have, being the largest program you have many more clinical sites and days to chose from and faculty than at any other campus :). Im there now, and it is a really good program, i highly recommend NH!
GOOD LUCK everyone!!!

:nurse: I have been wondering too----- I wonder why they dont post online or on a board at the nursing dept office the people that have been accepted as soon as it is available?????!!!??? Waiting on the postal system is so darn slow!!!
I feel you katlady. I was so desperate I have to drive to Tomball and Kingwood campus today for some informtion about cut off point and when the letter is going to be mailed out? But to my dismay they refuse to let the cat out. The only information i got from Tomball " Wait for the letter to be mailed next week"
